Guest N3M35I5 Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 i got my hudl last week. The ultimate test was yesterday we went to blackpool lights (uk members will know this) My son watched 1 film on the way there (2 hour drive) and then half of 1 on the way back before it went dead. When he passed it me back it was really hot like a laptop that had been encoding. i also noticed when its playing games i.e clumsy ninja the touch response is not very good also noticed the hudl only supports single touch, if hes accidentally touching somewhere on the screen the touch goes to pot. now he wont touch it, hes gone back to the ipad mini. safe to say its going back in the box and staying there
Guest Frankish Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Don't waste it in the box send me it? In all seriousness though does it really only support one touch point? Can anybody use an app and test the touch points that's disappointing. Edited October 19, 2014 by Frankish
Guest Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Hudl 2 or Hudl 1 ? Cos I have the Hudl 2 and my toddler watched 1.5 hours of BBC iPlayer (cbeebies episodes) and it lost about 35 percent of its charge) so based on that about 8 hours battery. Of course it has multi touch. Just try pinch to zoom in on any webpage (if it didn't it would not work as you need at least two fingers for this to work.) it sounds like you had a wake lock somewhere and is more likely to do with buggy software than anything else. What player were you using to play the movie?
Guest PaulOBrien Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 I suspect the player was software decoding which would hammer the CPU and kill the battery fast. Try the Intel build of VLC perhaps? P

In this day and age I'd be amazed if anyone releases a tablet without multi touch!
Guest state-it Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 After a few charge cycles the battery seems not bad at all. The first day or so I had the Hudl 2 I thought the thing would be a lemon for this reason, but it turns out not :)
Guest state-it Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Try the Intel build of VLC perhaps? On the VLC site I can see a link to VLC for Android, but ti seems to only support ARM ? Sorted - x86 is right there in the download directory  Edited October 19, 2014 by state-it

Sorted - x86 is right there in the download directory  I downloaded the VLC beta app from Google Play. It seems to work okay. Will this use the x86 code?
Guest PaulOBrien Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Check out:http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-x86/ P
Guest jp_hero Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 The Tapatalk app in landscape has a multi pane view and you can control them independently with two fingers
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 The Play Store VLC either supports both Intel and ARM in the same app or will download the Intel version. But I'd use the nightly builds just to be sure.
Guest thefunkygibbon Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 its clearly multitouch. you can pinch to zoom on chrome/photos etc which you can't do on non-multitouch devices. just tested to make sure on some silly drawing app for the kids an it drew with all 5 fingers. plus my misses was watching Friends on it most of the day yesterday while she was decorating, so unless your son was watching Lord of the Rings Extended cuts then i expect you are running in software decoding mode (use a decent player like mx player) or you have a faulty unit. i think if all of the hudl2's had those same problems then you'd hear a LOT more moaning about them by people.!!!
