teardown

OK, so just wondering if anyone has tried taking the hudl2 apart yet?

Someone posted an early teardown of the original hudl which was pretty useful for simple fixes and hardware hacks. Hoping for something similar if anyone has the inclination....?

Thought I might as well take up this challenge since I did the original. Nothing more than my fingernails again. Jam in the gap and lever the back cover out and away from the rest of the device. I've tried to show the catches that hold it together along with the all important battery size. Its bigger than I was expecting.

Nice one, thanks.

Confirms the battery capacity is good and screen size/brightness probably can be a big factor in runtime.

Thanks for that. I'm surprised to see that amount of free space in the USB end.

Have to say I'll be using a plectrum rather than my guitar-picking nails if I have to open mine up ;)

Do you happen to know which pair of wires supply power to the board and at what voltage? I have a totally dead battery, it appears the protection circuit has cut in, it is possible to charge the cells  by opening the pack up and using a charger with built in protection to charge the actual cells but still nothing comes out of the connector. I just want to power it up to extract the documents from the internal memory if I can (I thought I'd set default storage to the sd card but evidently not) before salvaging the screen for possible use with a pi
