OTG and charging

Has anyone found an OTG/charging adapter that works with the Hudl 2?

 

As the Hudl 2 does not have great battery life, I thought I'd still be able to use it with an OTG Y cable with a micro charging port. Sadly the Hudl does not recognise that charging is available. I've verified the OTG/charging adapter is capable of both on my HTC phone.

 

OTG works fine, and has allowed a 4 port hub to be plugged in, and a variety of devices plugged into that to be recognised. Attaching a phone allows file storage access, but bizarrely tries to charge from the phone from the Hudl as well. Without a means of charging and attaching other devices at the same time, the exercise of "docking" is kind of defeated.
