Guest jamie_ Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 Hey people, this is my second post. Has anybody actually made a custom ROM ? I'm getting really sick of the the stock KitKat and it's really annoying after using my Moto G 2 with a custom rom (now it's running stock android L - Which BTW I'm really annoyed the hudl not getting it yet) it's horrible using a stock ROM. I don't even know if there is a CWM for the hudl 2 yet...
Guest benzodiazepines Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 If you read the rooting thread, the bootloader on this device is very locked down and trying to boot an unsigned custom ROM bricks it permanently. Can't even flash a custom recovery and the stock one is useless. This isn't the tablet to have if you want custom ROMs, sell for a used Nexus 7 instead if you hate stock.

I have read the rooting thread and the bootloader CAN be unlocked, I saw it in a post on another form
Guest opensauce Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Yeah thanks actually I have read the rooting thread and the bootloader CAN be unlocked, I saw it in a post on another form The intel phone flashing tool and manufacture flashing tool can interact with fast boot, standard ADB fastboot doesn't work. the intel phone flash tool has instructions with it. Maybe xda is a better venue for this
Guest stevehudl2 Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Stock rooted ROM, Xposed Framework and a feature pack like "GravityBox" fills in most of the custom ROM functionality. I 2nd this, xposed framework modules give you a world of customisations, I use them on a HTC phone and they can give you pretty much anything you would want from a custom ROM. As for the bootloader, please post a link to the forum saying the boot loader can be unlocked so we can have a read! Paul says it currently cannot be done, without the bootloader being unlocked you cannot install a custom recovery and without custom recovery you cannot install a custom ROM. Paul has and still is looking into how to get the bootloader unlocked, if someone had already done it then cwm recovery or twrp recovery would be available for the H2, in time we might see it but for now the only way to more freedom is Paul's current root method and xposed framework mods. Keep up the good work Paul. Edited January 8, 2015 by stevehudl2

Guest Mitred Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) In adb Does the command "fastboot oem unlock" Not unlock the bootloader? Edited January 11, 2015 by Mitred
