hudl2: Minecraft PE: touchscreen doesn't work in child profiles

Bought my daughter a Hudl2 for Christmas, and pre-installed Minecraft PE and set up a child profile for her.

 

She was distraught when she started Minecraft, but couldn't use it. Launched OK, but no response at all from the touch screen so couldn't do anything with it, only thing to do was press a volume button so the Android buttons appeared and return to the home screen.

 

Eventually figured out that it works fine from the main user account, so now she's just using that account for everything, which means we can't use any of the parental controls that seemed quite an attractive feature of the Hudl2.

 

Anyone else seen this? Any solution?
