Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I usually have my phone and Hudl on low brightness but sometimes I forget to change this before going outside and it can be very difficult to adjust the brightness when already in daylight and barely able to see the screen. I was wondering about the possibility of using some kind of gesture where I wouldn't need to be able to read the screen and this would increase the brightness to maximum. Does anyone have any recommendations for this?
Guest r00tmydevices Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Why not leave it set to 'auto'. Surely it will then adjust itself according to ambient conditions?
Guest oldscot Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Can't say I've noticed auto changing brightness effectively if at all (but that may be my failure). There are various brightness widgets in play store you might try. I use nova launcher and that has one that gives one touch control of brightness, WiFi, sync, Bluetooth and location reporting which if very convenient. Oldscot.
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 The automatic brightness controls never do a good job. Maybe if there was a way to calibrate them but I imagine the hardware is cheap and imprecise anyway. I don't want to rely on a widget because that needs me to be able to see the screen. I want a gesture based solution that I can employ without visual feedback.
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 In the end I bought an app called Lux which lets me set the points at which I want the brightness at different ambient light levels. It's got a built-in filter feature so now I can let this control brightness and never again get caught out and have to huddle around my device in the shade, trying to catch some tenuous glimpse of activity on the screen to guide my attempt to restore normal screen brightness.
Guest state-it Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 ... have to huddle around my device .... Clever. I see what you did there.... ;)
