Guest WOPR Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Yesterday I heard my Hudl 2 make a noise of some sort, went to use it and it was totally dead, yet an hour before it was on 60% battery. I left it plugged it in for a good while and eventually I could restart it again. It then charged normally with the percentage slowly creeping up, but when it got to 100% and light went green it has stayed like that. It stays at 100% forever once it gets there. I left it playing a video to use the battery up again, recharged it and percentage went up as normal, and now same again, it stays at 100%. Grrrr. Any ideas?? Any help appreciated. It's a stock device and all apps and OS are up to date. Only oddity I had lately was the Youtube app updated and the top left button no longer did anything, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it which fixed that issue. I use the Google Now launcher and have done for a month or so. Edited February 5, 2015 by WOPR
Guest mbalax Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 I had this problem soon after the Jan/Feb update - battery meter got stuck at 100% a couple of times while the actual battery was secretly running out, then things went back to normal. Keep fingers crossed as always with the lovely H2.
Guest WOPR Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks, I'll recharge it and not let it get to 100 and see what happens then.
Guest 7enrique Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Mine has the same prob. it just happened yesterday, it was plugged in, couple of second after it became fully charged(green light) I unplugged it and after a while realized the battery percentage sticks to 100%. I have had this device(black one) since January. It is updated. I tried 10sec hard reset, no change. Has anyone tried factory reset? another thing is I have Battery doctor app installed on it. uninstalled it, no difference.
Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I'm getting bored of it now. Left it to die again, was charging normally but as usual it's hit 100% and now staying there. This is already my second device, I've had it since December will they just give me a new one on the spot? They did first time but I took it back same day on that occasion. My son has a turquoise one and his has been faultless since day one. Grrr.
Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I don't really want to do a hard reset as it forgets how you've set your launcher up which is really irritating too.
Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Right, just called them and they've given me a reference number so I can just go back to a store and come away with a new one. Again. Perhaps I should call mine a Hudl 3...
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I think you can use an app called Helium to back up your settings so you don't have to go through the rigmarole of setting everything back up again. I've never had to restore a back up with it though, so I can't be sure how well it works but it was recommended to me here.
Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I now have a shiny new white one. And it's currently on it's 6th attempt at installing the OS update, which is what my first one did. I think I shall be getting a refund tomorrow and giving up on Hudl 2. A shame.
Guest 7enrique Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Apparently my hudl2 just has back to normal now . I let it charge for 5 hours, ignoring the 100% shows the whole time, and then unploged it and turn it off and on. Another thing I have done before restart, force stop some android and tesco processes include one for monitoring the usage. But right now I'm just think about what if it happens again. this is really a shame a good tablet like this have these kind of problems. should we give up on hudl2? The thing is for this issue, stay on 100% charge bar, have seen some reports from users of Galaxy tabs, HTC one and some other devices. But what about other charging problems and clock problems which has been reported on the other foroum. Maybe we should just wait for next updates and maybe Lollipop.
Guest pudpoh Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Good luck with that, don't quite understand why you didn't try a factory reset first before exchanging it. Since if you get a new unit you have to set it all up again anyway. You would know pretty quickly if it was working correctly after a factory reset anyway. Always worth trying this before returning.
Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 The updates all eventually installed and so far the tablet works OK. However I've yet to plug it in to charge up fully... Will post back here when I do.

If you're talking to me, I obviously had to do a reset before I took it back, and sadly that did nothing to cure the problem. Light was always green when plugged in, always said 100%. Hey ho, let's see how this one goes!
Guest pudpoh Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Hope you have a good one this time, I reckon something went wrong with the update for some people and it has caused some other issues. My partners galaxy s4 camera stopped working after an update and it took a visit to a specialist repair centre to have the ROM reflashed to get it going again.

Because I had this app installed and updated a few days ago, and it uses a wallpaper feature to charge faster, it worked fine for some days. But now I wonder maybe this app caused the problem in somehow(stay on 100% and green light whole time)
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 When you say "wallpaper feature" do you mean a widget?

New one is currently on charge...
Guest 7enrique Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 When you say "wallpaper feature" do you mean a widget? Not really, it's a new ability of this app which makes charging faster. and it seems it really works. But I don't trust this ability now.

Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Charged it until green light came on, unplugged and it said 97%. So plugged back in for a while, it said CHARGED and now after a while unplugged it's gone down to 98%. Hopefully this unit is now fine. Touch wood! Must admit I much prefer it in white too ;)
Guest arnookie Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Go to settings battery display and turn off daydream. This solved the stuck at 100% problem, charge problem, auto contrast and moving icons for me. Transformed my tablet and I'm now delighted with it. :0)
Guest r00tmydevices Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 What are people's thoughts on a device such as this to further investigate battery charging related issues: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00NTU18KY/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Useful or pointless? Are there better products around this price? Thanks.
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Based on this detailed review I decided to buy the £2 one that is featured in photos somewhere on this forum. I guess we both learned of the existence of these things at the same time (I had been planning to cut into a cable so I could put my multimeter in the circuit). I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I notice the £25 PortaPow has its own power supply (a battery) so it's not interfering with the measurements but I'd rather sacrifice that accuracy and keep the £23. I don't think it will help us determine the cause of the charging issue but it would be nice to have something to compare to Battery Monitor Widget's readings. Unfortunately I don't think any of these have any data logging features so we'll have to sit there with a clipboard and pencil :/
Guest Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) As you can see from my posts on the different hudl/hudl2 psu's I've used that one - it cost me about £3 off ebay from China. Nice little unit that's never failed me so far. http://www.modaco.com/topic/373798-hudl2-does-not-charge/page-16#entry2249423 Edited February 10, 2015 by Guest
