Guest WOPR Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 I think that's what it's called, it's the irritating way that the display constantly adjusts the screen for a few seconds when looking at photos, it's most noticeable when looking at black and white photos. If I could turn this off it would make this device almost perfect.
Guest I am eusty Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Settings>Display>Brightness and turn it off Auto
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 So they mean auto-adjusted brightness, not contrast? I would have answered earlier if I thought it was that, but then, I don't think that changes just because you're looking at images... does it happen only when you load images with a particular program or any program?
Guest arnookie Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Mine does the same it adjusts the contrast and stuff looks horrible when it does. I keep trying to find a way to stop it. It's most noticeable when brightness is set less than 85%. Its realty annoying.
Guest seanspotatobusiness Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 I've never noticed the contrast changing on mine and my brightness is rarely above 50%.
Guest arnookie Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Is this another fault then? Mine sure has the same problem and its driving me crazy.
Guest Rocket Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 It's called dynamic contrast and is a design feature presumably to reduce the power requirements of the screen as they realised this was a problem. A few of the first reviews out commented on it. Will be a flag in the display driver but no current way to access it. I agree it's damned annoying and we should be able to disable it.
Guest arnookie Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 I wonder if Paul could see a way to turn it off for us. :0)
Guest arnookie Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Think I found the fix for this auto contrast and charge problem. just go to display and turn off daydream. After that my tablet stays at full charge when plugged in and in use and charges fine now. Auto contrast seems fixed by doing this as that problem disappeared also after doing this. :0)
Guest esc4p3 Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I had this 'issue' too. I had already turned daydream off right from first getting the tablet, as I had it turned off on my phone too, but strangely I found the auto contrast thing went away by setting the brightness to Auto (yes, turning Auto on, not off). Weird.
Guest WOPR Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Bit of a moot point now anyway as my THIRD Hudl2 is now messing me about (see my other thread) and the damned thing is going back. I won't be replacing it. FWIW I'd always had daydream off and it's not related to auto or normal brightness setting.
Guest liam7163 Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) download light delight from play store turn that on fixes the problem and can lower brightness to level want i had this problem too only fix i could find but works well and improves battery life on my hudl 2 Edited July 26, 2018 by liam7163
