Updated stock ROM S3 slowed to a crawl - any answers?

My wife's GT-I9300 is on latest update v4.3 but seems to be running like it's stuck in treacle. A factory reset helped - for less than week. It still has around 3.8GB space free (out of 16GB) Any suggestions? Would prefer not to start having to faff about with rooting and the like if possible...

My brother had this phone up until recently. I would say the likely cause is ram rather than the ROM.

 

There is so much useless tat that samsung has in the background when you add swiftkey, then facebook and a few other apps which keep running in the background, it slows to a crawl.

 

it helps by going into apps > running and disabling anything you dont use then re-starting.

 

but i'd imagine the best thing is to root and uninstall like there is no tomorrow!

Thanks. It's a bit better, but still not great. Surely it should be possible to get a reasonably spec'd phone like this running well without rooting it!!!!
