Guest PaulOBrien Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 Samsung have announced not one but two new flagship phones to sit atop their Galaxy range, the S6 and S6 Edge. The two new devices are instantly recognisable as Samsung phones, but also mark a departure from standard form for the Korean company that has taken a fair bit of flak since the release of the S5. Gone is the plastic back, now replaced by glass. Gone is the removable battery and microSD expansion, as Samsung have declared that 'customers are now happy to charge' (i.e. their design mandates it). Touchwiz has FINALLY been slimmed down... slightly... although in our brief hands on, there is very much still work to do in that regard. The other changes to the S6 are the refinements you'd hope from an updated product - the fingerprint reader no longer requires a swipe to use and as a result it is far more accurate. The cameras have been upgraded with f/1.9 sensors for both the front and rear. Performance is improved and lag is 'eliminated' with a ground breaking 13nm Exynos 7 processor and 3GB LPDDR4 RAM - there is no Snapdragon variant this time round. It's notable that waterproofing isn't included on the S6, this no doubt helps hit the 6.8mm / 7mm (Edge) thinness that helps make the devices feel good in the hand. The curved 'Edge' screen first appeared on the Galaxy Note Edge, but the implementation here is different. Firstly the curve is on both sides of the screen, which definitely looks great. Secondly, although the curve is present, the screen remains a 5.1" QHD panel, so anything that is happening on the edge is using up the main real estate, very different to the setup on the Note. As a result, it feels a little odd at times, with web browser content for example 'spilling over' on the curves and there seeming to be limited real world applications for the Edge (but admittedly a whole load of 'cool' factor). The devices will be available in a variety of hues, including White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz and Green Emerald. Our favourites were probably white or black, with the gold being an insane fingerprint magnet, the blue being a little gaudy and the green being too dark to really stand out. We'll have a full review of the new S6 devices soon but in the mean time, we're intrigued to hear what you think of the new handsets. Guest tsutton Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 One question... how will the edges work when you hold it on your left (or right) hand? Does it suffer from phantom touch?
Guest navas22 Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 The successor of the Galaxy S5 is even more powerful, offers better battery life, the new Galaxy S6 Edge will offer the same features as the Galaxy S6, but both sides of the screen are curved. _________________________________________________________________________________________ iphone 5s ipad air 2 avec forfait
