Guest GS430audio Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Hi, I've been searching the net to try and find an answer with no luck as yet. Joined up here as this seems to be the best place for hudl related tech advice... I'm thinking of getting one for an in car audio system but have a question. Is it possible to remove the screen (and internal gubbins) from the outside case? Basically I am trying to reduce the size of the device. I have seen the back removed from the hudl2 in a (very basic) teardown video but it doesn't seem to change the overall width/height of the device. Has anyone here properly dismantled their hudl2 yet? :) Thanks, Mark Edited April 4, 2015 by GS430audio
Guest CPN200 Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 No but whatever you do with it you're not going to reduce it by much anyway and why would you want to? Have a look on e-bay at many of the great double din flat screen head units available from China at knock down prices with great features before you think of tearing a Hudl apart (which probably wouldn't be as good anyway...)
Guest GS430audio Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) A tablet install (had a 10. 1 in last car) is ideal due to the screen size and quality with the added features of superb sat nav, android apps for unlimited customisation, Internet etc. .. The standard double din units offer very little in terms of functionality imo. Before I started using tablets in cars I've always used carPCs... I suppose I'll just have to buy one and have a go :) My last install... Edited April 4, 2015 by GS430audio
