Guest Vita94 Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Hi, Is it possible to unlock Blade 3, so I can use other SIM cards, via QXDM or any other free method? I don't have Sigmakey, and I dont want to pay for the unlock. Can you explain, where is the carrier info for the lock saved, is it in NVRam or somewhere else? I made a backup via QPST so I can preserve the IMEI. Thans in advance! Edited June 3, 2015 by Vita94
Guest KonstaT Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 There's an unlocking method but I'm not sure if anyone tested it on a Blade III. http://www.modaco.com/topic/365746-devs-any-thoughts-what-so-ever-on-unlocking/ SIM lock is likely not in NV memory, might be in cefs. Using a Windows flasher (that erases cefs) has usually also SIM unlocked the device.

What windows flasher do you recommend, I'm not sure about which software you are thinking, a link would help. Can I make a backup of that partition? Can you give me more info? Thanks in advance!

That's the only Windows flasher available for this device (besides QPST of course) and those are the only firmware files available too. I don't have a device anymore and SIM unlocking is not relevant where I live so I've never really looked into it.
Guest Vita94 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Is it possible to do something via linux, I'm open to all options. Although I would not like to brick the device. Can I dump the partitions somehow via dd or any other tool?
Guest KonstaT Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Sure you can dump each partition (or even the whole mmcblk0) with dd, but what good is that going to do?
Guest CraigJackson Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Hi, Personally, I'm staying away from these so-called free methods, since some of them can be pretty dangerous. Instead, I use a couple of paid services, with more than decent prices. One of my recommendations is UnlockUnit, a service which impressed me with the delivery time and the professionalism of their support team. Give them a try, if you want.
