Guest pudpoh Posted July 16, 2015 Report Posted July 16, 2015 There are some otg cables that claim to allow this, I haven't tried this so can't tell you if it will work on not. From my understanding of how this works, the usb port is ether in charge mode or host mode. To enable host mode an otg cable pulls the sense pin (pin 4) of the micro usb port to ground (pin 5) which tells the port to go into host mode. While it is in host mode the tablet then supplies power from the usb port to power whatever device is connected. So I can't really see how this could work, other than to supply more power to whatever usb device is connected.
Guest 4L0M Posted July 29, 2015 Report Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) I purchased one of these a while ago for my Nvidia Shield Tablet to power the tablet whilst having a USB to Ethernet dongle plugged in over OTG at the same time. They both work perfectly doing this. I have the Shield tablet hooked up to a 50" TV over HDMI in my bedroom to stream my gaming PC from my front room over Powerline Adapters to the Tablet upstairs. The OTG Y cable from Amazon :OTG Y CABLEThe USB to Ethernet Dongle :USB to EthernetI am curently at work, so I will try it on my girlfriends Hudl2 tonight and let you know if it works or not. Guest 4L0M Posted July 29, 2015 Report Posted July 29, 2015 Sorry, but I have just tested the above setup on the Hudl2 and unfortunately, it doesn't work.
