Guest Frankish Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) A lot of people are scared of installing Xposed as it's not the most user friendly experience however it is VERY easy to do and there is also a simple way to remove it should you decide you do not like it.The only thing i will say is be careful of what modules you download and install, make sure they are for your Android version and it's always good practise to have installed KonstaT's TWR and made a recent nandroid backup. 0. Required Downloads- These work on our current 5.0.2 ROM, flashing it on anything else is done entirely at your own risk.A. The Xposed framework, the very core! Download to your device storage right here.B. The Xposed installer app the front-end used to install tweaks or "modules". Download to your device storage right here.Z. OPTIONAL but i like to have it ready. The uninstall zip that removes Xposed should you decide you don't want the mod anymore can be downloaded right here. 1. Flash the Framework. So you have downloaded at least the above two files to your device? Great. Let's flash the framework now using KonstaT's TWRP Recovery. Boot into recovery in whichever way suits you via app, button combo etc.Select "Install" and browse to your download location of the xposed-v69-sdk21-arm.zip. Select it and swipe right to confirm the flash. It will complete very quickly. Great that's it the framework is installed now select reboot system and wait for it to boot back to android. Note it can take a little while to get there it will say "Android is upgrading..." for a while. 2. Install the Xposed app.Using the file manager of your choice browse to your download location of the XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk and select it, choose to install to device. Once done you can simply go to your app draw and launch the Xposed Installer app. It should ask for root access so make sure you grant this. That's it although it won't do much until you install and start using some modules. Read on for an example on a popular module. 3. Download Gravitybox for Lollipop.Gravitybox is a popular module for Xposed that has a great collection of tweaks.Launch the Xposed Installer app and go to "Download" and browse down to or search for GravityBox [LP]. Swipe to the right and install the latest version currently 5.1.4 by tapping Download. It will pop up an installation screen, tap next then install and install to internal storage. Once finished tap done. Now tap back a few times until you're back to the main Xposed Installer menu, now tap Modules and tap GravityBox to activate this module. Reboot your device now.Once your device is back on there will be a GravityBox icon in the app draw. Launch it and accept the warning that pops up.Now you can choose whatever tweaks you like, some may require a reboot again to activate properly. Any questions or feedback welcome. Guest BigD18t Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Nice guide.Have you found after installations your phone is more sluggish !! Mines feels a lot slower and jerky since, I don't want to uninstall, bit might be forced to.
Guest Frankish Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Not particularly no? I think most the tweaks have a relatively small footprint so i wouldn't think they would affect performance much. I think it's just an Android 5.0.2 thing, we could do with a 5.1 upgrade.
Guest BigD18t Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Small update, flashed the remove xposed zip and the phone is running really smooth again, so something wasn't quite right with it.
Guest NegativeOne Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Small update, flashed the remove xposed zip and the phone is running really smooth again, so something wasn't quite right with it. Same problem here. Happy enough to wait for a custom ROM anyway. Hopefully we see some pop up soon.
Guest BigD18t Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Same problem here. Happy enough to wait for a custom ROM anyway. Hopefully we see some pop up soon.Must be something causing it, seems odd @Frankish is OK though.
Guest Frankish Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Sorry guys been really busy at work and Three in down in my area still i've got 8 more months of this crap left with them!In all honesty i am noticing some real slowdown although remember the Lollipop version of Xposed is still only in version Beta 4 so it's bound to have some flaws i suppose.I'm happy to remove it and wait for a custom rom too i suppose but we desperately need a decent dev to pick up this phone and put some time into it.
Guest LiNe171 Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) That's a shame.. Xposed is really nice, but still doesn't work fine on Lollipop. Edited August 8, 2015 by PaulOBrien Please don't discuss topics related to software piracy.
