Guest Paul Spencer Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 I've forgotten how to hide Child Safety and My Tesco icons. Can anyone let me know how they did it.samacYou need to root your hudl , install titanium backup and then freeze the apps;)
Guest samac Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) OK rooted and Titanium Backup installed, freeze option only available in the paid version, any other suggestions. samac Edited August 7, 2015 by samac
Guest Jabbitt Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 You didn't have to root. Use a launcher like Nova Launcher that has an option to hide apps from the app drawer.
Guest samac Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Again only on the paid for version. I managed this before with no paid for apps, wish I could remember how.samac

Guest Alien Heads Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Best app for freezing apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en requires root.
Guest CPN200 Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) You didn't need to root your Hudl(or 2) at all!!Out of the 11 apps installed by Tesco, there is only one ("My Tesco") that you can't "Force Stop" and then select "Disable" (having de-installed all the updates to them first and deselected "Show notifications"...) using the normal Apps function of Android anyway?!! I don't get this obsession with rooting everything when it sometimes isn't necessary... (and yes, I also have some rooted old HTC phones - just to bring them a bit more up to date...)The "My Tesco" app is really just Tesco's Launcher so if you install an alternative and set it as the default, that pretty much shuts it up also... (even if you can't actually "disable" it...) Edited August 7, 2015 by CPN200
Guest Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 (edited) Apex Launcher appears to 'hide' apps in the drawer without requiring the 'Pro' version - well it does for me anyway. Agree with CPN200 wrt the 'My Tesco' app. Edited August 8, 2015 by Guest
Guest samac Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 @Paul Spencer Thanks, worked perfectly. Thanks also to everyone else that helped.@CPN200 whilst I didn't need to root my Hudl2 I chose to, I firmly believe that if you buy something then you should have full rights to do with that item as you wish, within the law, you should never have to accept what a company says that you must have, that way lies "the dumbing down of society". However after the rant, your method doesn't actually work as you cannot deselect "Show notifications".samac
Guest CPN200 Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Yes you can. You just have to do it in a set order that's all and only after you have de-installed any updates (thereby reverting to what is purely in the rom), cleared out any residual data and cache THEN hit "force stop" again, then hit uncheck "show notifications" and finally "disable"... Works fine. I completely accept your point about rooting as I make use of it myself. I was only making the point that it isn't always necessary. That's all.
