Hudl2 won't update

So I cannot update my hudl2 because  when I download the update, and restart, it goes into recovery then starts updating. It then says " update error blah blah books.apk" and then stops.

Is there anyway to fix this?  Also I can't even access my hudl because the stupid update prompt wont let me onto he next screen. So now im stuck. Tempted to just throw of out the window tbh lol...

Can anyone help?  I don't have a PC at the moment..

You could try the stock recovery procedure i.e. Keep the volume up button pressed while you switch on. You should research this procedure before you use it as I am not an expert on the subject.

As a matter of interest, what update were you trying to apply?

From the short part of the error message you are receiving while the update is trying to install - have you by any chance 'deleted' any of the original apps?

If you have, instead of 'disabling' inbuilt apps, you run the risk of failed OTA update installs as they run system file integrity checks while installing and if 'any' file is not as they expect they fail and stop the install process.

You can recover from this situation but would need a PC to be able to re-flash your unit with the last available system image - this would restore any missing apps or edited system files. I would suggest 'not' using the inbuilt recovery system if you have deleted any system files - it'll just cause you more headaches.

If you can find the zip file for the update, then you can modify its update script to not check for those apps and then flash that zip file using the tethered recovery.

I've done this meny times and so can confirm that it works
