Guest crmitchell Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 When I send/receive e-mails from my SPV I get a copy of all my e-mails that are on my service provider's server. That's fine. But if I delete the e-mails on the SPV, when I send/recieve again the ones I deleted on the SPV are deleted on the server. This I do not want. I would like to delete e-mails on my SPV, and leave them on the server. I will manage the e-mails on the server from my PC. Put another way, how can I stop the items in the SPV's Deleted folder sync'ing with the server when I send/recieve e-mail ? Can anyone help ? :?: Thanks

Guest fraser Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Very stange, I'm getting the opposite problem. I'm running an Cyrus IMAP server for my own personal use, and the SPV is set up to use it. (It's a really good way to configure the e-mail on the phone, I'll post a message someday soon explain the benefits and the how-to). Anyway, when I receive a message on the phone, it deletes it from the phone as normal. On the next resync, the same message will come through again! The only way to delete it permamently is to delete it on a PC client and then on the phone. I'll play around with deleting the message from the deleted items folder and reply back if it makes any difference. Could be just the thing you are looking for, crmitchel. Unfortunatly, setting up a secure Linux IMAP server isn't an easy undertaking!!
Guest crmitchell Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Remove the e-mails from the Delted Items folder. Hi Bork Good idea, but does not work. Did it work for you ?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Not had chance to test it as my machine checks (POP3) every 2 minutes at home, so my email is usually caught there first.... However i remember seeing in the manual (i think) somewhere that that should work. If i get chance i'll try and look it up
Guest crmitchell Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I found something in the SPV guide - 'deleting emails from your SPV' on pg 4.5. Talks about synchronising with Active Sync, but says delete from the deleted file if you do not want e-mails deleted from your Outbox. Not sure if it works with send/receive.
