Guest dingleton Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Firstly, my apologies for the following very simple questions. My wife bought a hudl2 from Tesco Direct in March 2015 and immediately updated the software to version V 1.2. In August 2015, she updated it directly from version V 1.2 to version V 1.4. To date, she has chosen to ignore the recent notification about an update to Lollipop 5.1 (V 2.1), so the device is therefore still running KitKat 4.4.2 (V 1.4).My question is - if she does a "hardware factory restore" (Volume Up and Power buttons together) and then selects "wipe data/factory reset" followed by "Yes - - delete all user data" and then "reboot system now", will this simply return the software back to the last update (V 1.4) that was carried out?Or will it return to the original version V 1.1 that was installed when the device was first switched on or will it automatically try to update to Lollipop 5.1 without first offering an opportunity to decline this latest version V 2.1?
Guest Sparkey159 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) This won't return it to V 1.1, It'll stay at V 1.4, it doesn't downgrade the device.EDIT:Once you factory reset, I'm pretty sure it'll force you to upgrade to lollipop, be careful.Upgrading to lollipop is permanent (For Now) Edited October 22, 2015 by Sparkey159 Misread the OP's post
Guest pudpoh Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 As above it won't return you to v1.1, if you do proceed with this it will by default force you to upgrade to lollipop. If you want to stay on kit kat do not factory reset it.Saying that lollipop isn't bad, my battery life has improved plus you get more control of the storage card. You will likely need to factory reset though after installing lollipop for everything to work correctly afterwards. Also be careful if use usb otg, some people have reported problems with this after updating.
Guest Captain Cookster Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Take the Lollipop update. Especially if you want a longer standby life on the battery. (As the post above points out) Its been fine for me.! An improvement.
