Hi, My Hudl 2 still isn't showing the new update. Still says I'm up to date on 4.4.2.

Anyone else the same?

Thanks.

Not heard that one.

Hope they haven't stopped OTA as well as pulling the Tablets from sale.

Guess you could factory reset and see if it latches on it after that?

Hey, thanks for the response. Done factory reset via Android AND recovery. Still on 4.4.2 :(

If you want to root your Hudl2 stay on 4.4.2 as there is no current way to root 5.1.

Glad you posted that. I was beginning to think I was the only one with that problem. I check mine every day and still no lollipop.

I rang Tesco a few days ago and was told the update hadn't been released to everyone yet and to wait a couple of days. Still nothing though. Thoughts anyone?

Glad to hear this. Bought (one of the last) Hudl 2 on Friday. Set up and followed updates, checked and device on 4.4.2. Surprised by this, checked yesterday, said i was up to date. I raised an e-mail to Tesco support expect it will be answered early next week. Will post what they say.

Was surprised I did not seem to have to register the Hudl 2, have I missed something, should I have registered and could this be why still have 4.4.2.?

Not sure if what I am going to post will add anything to this topic.

I have a Hudl2, which I bought in October 2014, and is not rooted. For the last few weeks there has been an "update" asterisk in the notification bar which I assumed was the Lollipop update. I put off doing the update till yesterday.

Plugged the Hudl into the charger and started the update, which asked for the Hudl to be restarted, and after the restart got the android robot on its side graphic with the words "system update". I assumed this was going to take a while so went off for about 5 minutes. When I came back the Hudl had gone into standby mode. Pressed the power button and Hudl came out of standby and my normal "desktop" was displayed with all the usual icons.

Checked the system info and I am still on 4.2.2 and nothing seems to have changed. I have no idea what the update was or has done. I have also tried the "check for updates" option which comes back saying my Hudl is up to date.

Got a reply from Tesco Support,

"Thanks for your recent email.

We made the update available to a set number of users.

As we have reached our target the update is no longer available.

We will be releasing it again in the near future, regrettably I cannot provide a date for this.

Once the update is available it will display as a notification on the Hudl screen.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

I fear this is the end, but am prepared to wait and see, not quite sure why Tesco would only target some Hudl 2 users, makes me feel very second class, I have the same hardware but not worthy for a later OS. It's like saying to one of my sons that there will be no Christmas present this year because I have reached my target by buying for the others.

Hi Mr

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

We have reached the maximum capacity for this current update, however there is no need to worry as we are releasing a further update in a few weeks time. There is currently no eta for this at the moment but as soon as the update is ready you will get a notification to allow it.

If there is anything else we can help you with please don't hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Kelly Neary

They obviously pulled the update due to the issues people were reporting, eg. loss of otg, and should be, hopefully soon, releasing a new improved bug-free version.

Perhaps; let's hope you are right. Or it might just be another example of the disorganisation, poor decision-making, and lack of professionalism that we have seen many times from Tesco tech support.  I for one will be glad to see the back of them.

Mate, there was a pre-lollipop update before the main one. There was a delay of a few days between the first and second update in my case.  Hope this helps

Just to say it looked like my hudl had frozen at the start of the second update file,  I was just about to power off when the flash started, please be patient.

Update to Lollipop 5.1 available this morning, will charge my Hudl and update later.

Looks like I was wrong to think Tesco might abandon the Hudl update and am grateful that they have
