Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 I am a super newbie and be spending the last 24 hours trying to fix my daughters Hudl 2 update loop. Here is a little history of what happened:- 1)Always seemed to have lack of storage so rooted to remove Tesco apps but still felt way too many remained 2)OK for a while but recently it seemed around 6gb had disappeared and wanted to update anyway so tried to update forgetting it was rooted. 3)Update failed so removed root by the menu in Supersu (i think this is all I did). 4)Tried again and failed 5)Did some research and read a full reset should sort, but didnt. Now stuck in loop. I am on 4.4 with a build 20150529.110309, if that means anything. I have tried to do a few things by transferring updates etc to the SD card of Hudl. I have been able to access the developer menu using the google hack. I have tried to understand what people are requesting to try on other posts, but nothing is successful or i just simply cannot follow it. I really have no idea when it comes to Hudl's what I am doing. If anyone can give me advice please dont assume I know anything, as likely I dont. I have read a number of posts where people had the same problem, but none of the recommended threads helped me. I know how to access sd card on Hudl, I can connect Hudl to pc, so with that in mind, what do I need to do?? Thanks guys.
Guest pudpoh Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 You need to restore all the Tesco apps that you removed after rooting the device. It checks they are present and haven't been tampered with before trying to update the device. I would try and restore your device from one of Paul's rooted images which should restore the apps that you removed. It should then be possible for your device to update to lollipop. Once you install lollipop I'm not aware of any way to root it again after this.
Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 I am not too worried about rooting it again, but what image do you advise? I did try one and I did try and follow the guide to do this but if this is where you use the cmd prompt i seemed to get stuck here.

If so you can flash this full image it should solve the problem https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B97c1b2UXMxCLVFKTEFiUndIcHc/view?usp=docslist_api
Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 I am struggling to get into recovery mode, read a couple of different methods but neither worked for me.
Guest spencer1620 Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Do I transfer image to SD on Hudl? Yes transfer to SD card then when in recovery look for it when you update and it will do the rest
Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Thank you but cannot get into recovery mode, I assume accessing the image via the loop menu i get into is no use?
Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Got into recovery, lets see what happens!

The only way I know of is this method Swith off the tablet Then press and hold the Volume up + power for a few seconds. Release the power button when you see the powered by android sign Then you should be in recovery
Guest spencer1620 Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Oh that's strange. It's the same file I used. I'm afraid that's all I can do are you still on KitKat ? It could be worth looking around for a KitKat image to try
Guest Wubbster Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Yes 4.4. Thanks for trying, much appreciated.

Guest robin0800 Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 Find this post http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/373642-how-to-root-your-hudl-2/ read the first page until you understand what to do Use the latest zip file (2015) this needs to be unzipped and the image file put in the same folder as fastboot and adb This method does work so come back here if you hit any problems or don't understand something
