HTC announce the '10', their new Android flagship device

HTC have announced the '10', their new Android flagship device. 

With a design language that is distinctly HTC, echoing past devices as well as the recent A9 product, the 10 is instantly recognisable as a HTC product, despite dispensing with classic HTC cues such as the front HTC logo and offset USB port (FINALLY!). As you'd expect, the device isn't left wanting in the specs department - if it all works together well, it looks like it could be a killer device.

Impressed? With the possible exception of wireless charging, HTC have crammed everything in the device you'd expect from a top end model in 2016.

We're going to be putting the HTC 10 through it's paces ahead of a full review over the coming week or so, but we're particularly excited to put HTC's camera and audio claims to the test. A score of 88 on DXOmark is up there with the very best and HTC also make big claims about the audio, even though traditional boomsound has been replaced by a split setup with the main earpiece speaker for treble and a bottom mounted speaker for bass.

We're slightly sceptical about HTC's claims regarding their Boost+ app for 'performance improvements' by clearing apps out of RAM (really, just no) but we'll see.

I'm interested to see how the OIS helps the camera, the RAW/manual shooting capabilities and how responsive/accurate the fingerprint sensor is.

I assume the reasoning for that is the same as when they had a HTC logo - that's where the screen electronics are.

hmm that's odd most other companies do not face such an issue with their screen electronics, all I know is It looks appalling. To be honest I feel the whole look is mediocre at best from a design perspective. Pretty chunky, wasted space, weird chamfer etc. When it comes to building hardware I think HTC has been eclipsed by the likes of oppo, vivo, meizu, xiaomi, huwaei although it is nice to see HTC bouncing back a bit with a decent spec and cameras, overpriced though.
