Guest ssj_kakarot Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 im quite angry about this now as you will probelly tell, just a word of warning to any one, dont buy an spv from the link. like i did a while ago not to long, i loved the phone had no problems with it to begin with, until one day for no reason at all i turned the phone on and it just would not work at all no buttons apart from the power buttons. so i took the phone back to the link and asked for a new replacement i was adv that they could not do this and they would have to send my spv away for repair, whitch could take up to 6 weeks, obviously i was unhappy but there was nothing i could do, so i settled for the loan phone they gave me, a crappy old sony thing, one big problem with that they didnt put a charger with it, i rang up to complain on a monday and they saif they would send one out that day first class 5 days later i still hadnt recieved the charger, so i had to take a day off work and go to the shop who were "very sorry" and insteead of the sony phone gave me a 8310 which was very dirty to begin with ect, so i had to settle with that. then about 2 weeks later i had a phone call from them to say the phone was ready to pick up so again i had to take another day off work and went to get me beloved spv, only to be told when i got there that it had been sent to the wrong repair senter and would have to be sent off again, they were very sorry again but there was nothing they could do. when i had the time i phoned up the manager demanding a new phone but get this she would love to give me a new phone but cant as " orange would bar the phone if she gave me a new one" and " there was no way my sim card would just work with a new phone" obviously a complete lie any one would know this, but to get some back up i phoned orange and they confirmed this was not the case, armed with this evedence i phoned the link customer help line to make a complaint to be hung up pn by the first person to anser the phone the second person told me she would put a complaint in but i would not here again from it as the complaint would be dealt with internally. so i'm pretty stuck really im getting back in touch with the shop tommoro to query the manager lieing to me, and see what comes of that and also im writing a letter of complaint aswell. does any body have any idea's of mabye a governing body i could get involled with this aswell. Any thing would be a life line casue im not getting any were now, jolly days though they did agree to cover my gprs for a week, wup de doo 6 pound.
Guest amo Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Customer services at the link do truly suck
Guest Firaas Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Always get Orange Care! Get The Link to guarantee that you'll receive your phone within a certain time period, or they'll immediately and without hassle replace it with a brand new unit. Otherwise, although the six-week period is long, they have still offered you a loan unit, so you have something to make phonecalls from. Unless you took out insurance, the only thing you can do is get in touch with Trading Standards, who may step in - but they will ask you to contact The Link in writing first, so by the time they step in, you may have received your phone back already... And the Link is part of the Dixons Group - what did you expect?
Guest agent.m Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 keep a note of everyone you spoke to at what time, and what they said. It makes it hard for them to talk bull without lying. check trading standards etc on comsumer rights the you know where to hit them in the balls!!!
Guest fraser Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Ask for your money back or a new phone. Make sure they realise you want it there and then. Be polite. If they don't give you it, stand outside the store and try to tell anyone going in that you would not recommend buying anything there. Most folk will ask why, say you got an expensive phone, it broke and how long you have been with out a usable replacement and how much time and effort how have spent trying to solve the problem. Don't lie or exagerate, be totally honest. Suggest to the customer that they buy their phone at a nearby competitor (give them directions, pointing to the other store). Tell them the prices will be roughly the same anyway. Make sure the shop staff can see you do this. They are on commissions :) Don't do any dodgy, like try to block anyones way. If you are on public property there is nothing they can do. If it's a shopping mall, the security cannot physically touch you unless you touched them first or if you can be perceived as a threat. Standing with your arms behind you "at ease" style is best. Otherwise, they will be guilty of assault if they lay a finger on you. Make sure they know that you know that. (this works well with Pub/Club bouncers, but only if you have witnesses with you) If a customer ignores you, let it go, another one will be along shortly. Dress reasonably smartly. Again, nothing dodgy! If you break the law, kiss all your rights goodbye. The shop will soon get the message. ;-) Sometimes you have to be a bastard to get what you want. Nice guys finish last and all that...
Guest retallick Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 My SPV just died. I bought mine from The Link and had the prospect of having to fight to get a replacement. I called Orange, told them about the dead SPV, they sold me Orange Care on the spot and I got a replacement the next day. Brilliant. :)
