Guest Big Don Vespa Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 I bought the phone from Asda but I can't remember when and I've lost the receipt. My screen has developed funky patterns around the edges which, I think, is possibly the glue between the front glass and the digitiser degrading. I'm pretty sure this would be a warranty issue but since I don't have proof of purchase I'll have difficulty approaching Vodafone about it. Any ideas?
Guest gitanillo87 Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 you can try to change digitlaizer yourself...
Guest Big Don Vespa Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 The point here is that if I can get Vodafone to do it for me then that would be the preferred option.
Guest wbrambley Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 What about looking at your Google device history? I'm not sure but it may have somewhere information about your first sync or similar. Vodafone may say take it back to the place of purchase anyway.
Guest BlueMoonRising Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Did you pay cash or with a card? If card then Asda may be able to search on your card to confirm when you bought it. Edited August 14, 2016 by BlueMoonRising
Guest deaglecat Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Same thing happened to me. I also bought mine at Asda ... it was about 11m old (12m warranty). Golden rules for me were. 1. Have receipt. 2. Box and ALL accessories (headset, charger, usb cable and sim). Google says some folks have had problems with returns without all the parts. I got offered a replacement or refund. Chose the latter. Simply went to CS and said that it had become faulty. Got a refund there and then - they check the refund and original cards match and the IMEI on the phone matches. She tried to take the back off... to do this step (LOL). Otherwise you are into Voda as manufacturer and warranty ... and grief. BTW... the Asda display model had about 5-7mm band of this fuzzy crud around the display. I believe many SU6 will suffer the same fate - might be heat related. Looks worse in sunlight (reflected) - fine in dark. Good luck. Edited August 14, 2016 by deaglecat typo

I don't have the receipt but I looked up my bank statements online and found the purchase in October so I'm definitely within 12 months. Asda website says you can use a printed bank statement in place of a receipt so fingers crossed I'll get a refund. And yes, I still have the box and accessories. I've seen quite a few people online complaining of the same fault. Think I'll go for a Wileyfox Swift next.

Guest ruairi Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 I have the same 'funky' pattern on the my SU6 screen. Maybe there was a faulty batch? I got mine from Vodafone in early Aug 2015. I'm going to try to bring it back to Vodafone for repair or replacement.
Guest deaglecat Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 I think it is the glue between the LCD and digitiser that is failing. Mine did not have the problem until it got hot in the summer. Mine had a 2-3mm strip of fuzzing, the one in the shop display was much wider. The display looks like this ....somebody else with the same issue.

I was looking at the Wileyfox phones when I bought the SU6 as they looked smart but they'd still to launch at the time, I'd check the reviews first as they've not had a flawless start for their company. I bought mine at the end of August last year and all this talk of de-lamination has got me slightly concerned, I put a light coloured wallpaper on and there's no sign yet on mine but I don't play games on it so if it's heat related perhaps I'll be okay.
