Monte Carlo help required please

Hi I have my old orange monte Carlo which I unlocked via this site years back, when I turned on phone recently I cant unlock it it recognised my finger but I cant pull the bar across to unlock screen as it only recognises the edge so the phone is unusable. I have held down power and volume to get it into ftm to do a reset but it just hangs on ftm screen. What do I need to do to get this phone working again as seems a shame to throw as in pristine condition?
