Guest Huawei UK Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Muting a ringtone, decreasing the ringtone volume, or answering a call may seem like basic phone features. However, if these features are not easily accessible, they can still cause major issues for users, as illustrated in the three examples below: 1. Muting a Phone Before going to a meeting, you probably set your phone to silent to avoid unwelcome disruptions. However, if you've ever forgotten to mute your phone, you'll know just how embarrassing it is when it rings during your boss's presentation. 2. Excessively Loud Ringtone When you're out and about, you might increase the ringtone volume on your phone to make sure you don't miss any calls. Unfortunately, this also means that when you do receive a call, the noise can be deafening for those around you. 3. Answering a Call with One Hand When you're carrying the groceries home, answering a call with just one hand can be incredibly fiddly, whether you're trying to swipe the screen or press the answer button. Although on the surface, each of the above issues may seem trivial, they do inconvenience users from time to time. That's why the HUAWEI P10/P10 PLUS supports more intuitive gestures for handling call functions, ensuring that user embarrassment is kept to a minimum. 1. Flip to Mute If your phone rings half way through a meeting, the typical response is to try to hang up, or press the power button to mute the ringtone. Unfortunately, both of these solutions require you to touch the screen or press a physical button, which can take time. However, thanks to the flip gesture on the HUAWEI P10/P10 Plus, users can now flip their phone over to stop it vibrating and mute the sound, preventing possible embarrassment. To use this feature, go to Settings > Smart assistance > Motion control > Flip, and enable Mute incoming calls. 2. Automatically Decrease the Ringtone Volume When out and about, you might set a high ringtone volume on your phone to avoid missing incoming calls. Unfortunately, this means that you must press the volume down button repeatedly when your phone rings to avoid disturbing others. Thankfully, the HUAWEI P10/P10 Plus supports an intuitive gesture which decreases the volume of the ringtone automatically when you pick up the phone to answer an incoming call. To use this feature, go to Settings > Smart assistance > Motion control > Pick up and enable Reduce the ringtone volume for incoming calls. The next time your phone rings too loudly, simply pick it up to reduce the ringtone volume. 3. Answer a Call Without Touching the Screen If you have trouble answering calls using just one hand, you may want to try the Raise to ear feature on the HUAWEI P10/P10 Plus. To use this feature, go to Settings > Smart assistance > Motion control > Raise to ear and enable Answer calls. When you next receive an incoming call, raise your phone to your ear to answer it without touching or swiping the screen. In addition to the functions mentioned above, you can also use the Motion control feature on the HUAWEI P10/P10 Plus to control alarm and timer sounds, or switch between hands-free and earpiece mode during calls. To use these features, go to Settings > Smart assistance > Motion control, and enable the relevant switches on the Flip, Pick up and Raise to ear screens.
