Guest kevlar Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 Will my phone require de-certing again after applying the update? Kevlar
Guest meaks Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 Do you need to make a backup onto an s.d card?
Guest Thurstan Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 Yeah if you do a back-up of your ISPM, then install the update, then reinstall the backup, will it still be uncert?
Guest muude Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 The modded files are not in the IPSM folder but in the windows folder. You still need to de-cert after the update.
Guest davy Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 am I missing something here? I unlocked my spv for unsigned apps, did a full backup to mmc card, then did the danish update before reflashing ipsm from backup and I was back to an unlocked spv. will this method not work the same for the UK update? Cheers, Davy.
Guest Thurstan Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Yeah that's what I meant... anyone know, or is it just a matter of suck-it-and-see?
Guest Shuflie Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Until the update is out and someone has tested it we can't know for sure but I imagine that restoring an IPSM backup of a decerted phone should work. If not then I will be going back to the Danish update again and living with not being able to use keylock anymore. By the way muude, although the files that you modify are located in the windows folder they effect settings in the IPSM after a hard reset which is why restoring an IPSM backup works.
Guest fraser Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Be wary! Restoring a backup after the update may actually overwrite some of the stuff from the update. If the update modifies any of the data from IPSM and you overwrite it, things could get messy. I'd recommend doing a selective backup & restore of just the simple things, like ringtones, home screens etc. If you have to recert (i.e. hard-reset), reinstall everything again the proper way. It doesn't take long really. This is provided that the update trashes the signing hack. If it doesn't, then you don't need to do anything!
