Guest woof Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Just wondered if anyone has yet come up with a way of adding a picture to come up when a person calls
Guest yatpeak Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Not yet, and thought some people disagree with me (they'd be more likely to know, but just my belief), I believe that you would have to sign it with Orange to connect it to the radio functions on the phone, which costs about $600 I believe. Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Amazing, we have a phone that has more power than my old 486 and still all people want to do is show a bl**dy picture when someone calls them! I just wonder what you do when your phone rings - pass it round the room and say "ooh, isn't he/she fit?". Get a T68 or a 7650 brick for god's sake!!! :) I believe that you would have to sign it with Orange to connect it to the radio functions on the phone, which costs about $600 I believe. I think not - if MBoden says you don't need to then i'll believe him ;) It makes sense - you not actually accessing anything to do with making a call, just information on a contact. Still, it doesn't really bother me if a picture app costs anyway!
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 You don't need to sign the app through Orange to get it into the priveliged areas of the phone. You can force your own certificate onto the Priveliged Certificate store phone using RAPIConfig in the SDK, and sign the app using that certificate - this is about as much access to the phone as you can get.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Sorry Firaas, I didn't quite get that. Are you saying that you can sign a program through Baltimore etc. and then use the SDK to access privileged areas? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Sorry - forgot to mention that only works on "decertified" phones. Basically, on a decertified phone, you can create your own certificate using SDK tools, then put the certificate in the Priveliged store on the SPV using the RAPIConfig tool in the SDK. If you sign a program using the same certificate (using the signing tool in the SDK), then the signed program can access priveliged areas. Baltimore isn't involved in this process, anywhere.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Surely a caller-pic app would only need to connect to the Contacts list and could be certified as such?
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 If finding out who's ringing etc doesn't require priveliged access, then it's OK...
Guest woof Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 well i reckon all you superb SPV brians should come uo with a way of doing it. Come on guys, it cant be that hard can it  you got to do it lads, it would make a nice touch to the phone, might as well make use of the delightful colour screen. Plus I can put Mr Hankey the christmas poo (southpark) to come up when the misses calls!!!!
Guest DJHope Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I rekon this would be easy because theirs already a little picture that comes up when someone calls (the little mobile phone) its in the windows directory too, all you need todo is find out whose calling and swap the picture in the windows directory with the person whose calling? Easy? DJ hope
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 If finding out who's ringing etc doesn't require priveliged access, then it's OK... Does a Contact list lookup count as priveliged access?
Guest woof Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 there must be a way of linking a pic saved on the SD card or phone to the caller profile, so to come up when calling. Im not great with understanding the registy and stuff, so is there any one out there who is currently investigating this or is willing to??? Come on, cant be mega hard (can it!!!)
Guest yatpeak Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Surely a caller-pic app would only need to connect to the Contacts list and could be certified as such? I didn't even think of that, in that case you probably could do it, after all, the contacts aren'tone of the radio functions. Wyatt
