Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Any way of getting round registration? :/
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Any way of getting round registration? :/ It really pi**es me off that you have to register for almost every site on the web nowadays - we'll all have to login too Google next! :) Obviously MoDaCo is excepted - there's a reason for registering on here, but why should I register for SmartPhone club just to give someone a few advertising stats. They're having a laugh if they think i'm giving them my phone number! Grr...
Guest PsychoDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Yeah seems a bit extreme for a few apps that will be available elsewhere pretty soon if they are worth gettin....oh well
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Pretty impressed Pocket slidshow is free with the SPV, £20 quid on that site :/
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Interesting - where did they find this headset? It looks like a photo to me!
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 It's a picture off the "Themes and Tunes" page
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Yeah i saw it, just wondered why it was interesting? (Thinking i've missed something obvious here...:))
Guest almark Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 will these free apps only work on a unlocked phone?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I was wondering that...
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Yeah i saw it, just wondered why it was interesting? Only becuase it wasn't the standard headset, and the earphones didn't look too bad. Not that interesting - just an observation... I'd assume these apps are signed, but if someone puts them on their PC they can have a look at the certificates on them.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I thought they looked like the supplied headset? :) and the DATMap has: JamesP Default Development Code-Signing, at the end and SMS tools: Orangeworld Privileged Trust So i'd assume SMS tools is at least...
Guest martin Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Even Digital Concepts aren't giving out a demo of Warbirds and they created the game. I tried to download Warbirds from smartphoneclub and received something called a 'DAT SCS Configuration Profile' in my email which looks like this VG8gZG93bmxvYWQgeW91ciBDb25maWd1cmF0aW9uIGZvbGxvdyB0aGUgZm9sbG93aW5nIGxpbmsg CiBodHRwOi8vd3d3LnNtYXJ0cGhvbmVjbHViLm5ldC9Eb3dubG9hZE1uZ3IvZG93bmxvYWQuYXNw eD9pZD03NzYxMA I believe this is mean't to be a pointer to the files? Has anyone managed a download yet.
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I thought they looked like the supplied headset? The bit with the button on looks different to me. Anyway - bit of a pointless discussion; it could just be a perspective thing with the picture that's fooling me!
Guest coolcatshaft Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Your phone doesn not need to be app unlocked to run these apps! I actually registered with them ages ago before they had any apps. started out with just custom home screen xml wizards.
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I registered with them. And downloaded all the free apps. No point getting the Slideshow app, or the Rebound, as they came with my SPV. When you register and you HAVE to put in a mobile phone number, and setup your type of handset, i.e SPV. Then you simply add the free apps (Seems to be only 1 at a time) to your basket, and go to the checkout. You then get two choices, either sms send, or manual email send. I clicked the email send. They then send you a link to the actual .cab files. The sms tools are pretty good, they allow you to delete all your read sms / emails in a single go. Warbirds, music is good, gameplay, hmm well the verdicts not out on that. The mobile email ? what the point of that is, i just dont know, i think its supposed to be an email setup wizard, but it looks exactly the same as the one in handset already. Went throught it all, and never actually seem to get anything new. The favourites picker, just seems to be a ie favourites with several categaories, great if you have like 500 favourites, but for me, and my possible 10, too much. And they Application map, i didn't even install, i got it, but never installed it. From what i read, it sounds like its a link program to there website, where you select a category, and possibly buy / downloads apps from them. Didn't really want any commercial pooh on my phone. Nothing majorly worth getting except the sms tools. But don't take my word for it. One piece of advice tho, don't put in your real mobile number unless you want lots of junk sms, put in a dead one. And the same for your email address, put in a hotmail one, becasue i can see my hotmail, getting loads of advertising junk now.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 I got my first spam sms this weekend :/
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 Ahhh, the memories of your first spam sms. Treasure it, becasue given enough time, they breed. Breed like rabbits, and you end up with them all the time. Not as bad as email spam, not yet anyhow, but you will have won a chance to win a car, a chance to win 50,000 pounds, or a free DVD player. All "CHANCES" as it were, but it does over power you given enough time. hehe. Enjoy it, while its only your first.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 That is, my first spam SMS to my 2 month old number. :)
Guest HelloDave Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 That's what concerns me about signing up to smartphoneclub.net - i'm convinced they're going to start spamming me! Anyone want to post the cab file for the SMS toolkit :) Even though its free, i'm not sure how pleased smartphoneclub would be about it though.
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 There is a link to the SMS tools on another thread about 3 or 4 lines down to this one, called "Delete sms" or something along those lines. I do have all the free .cabs tho. Not sure about the legal issue of me posting them tho. If a moderator would like to let me know, i will gladly do as requested by them.
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 http://www.smartphoneclub.net/DownloadMngr...d.aspx?id=72885 is the link I got in my email.
Guest Firaas Posted February 23, 2003 Report Posted February 23, 2003 By the way, you don't need to enter your mobile number when asked - just your phone type - I got away without entering it.
