Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I'd expect it to be here once we're into business hours. Thats assuming it ~is~ coming "today", i've not seen an official press release about it....
Guest Thoroughbred Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Today also sees the announcement of the first official Orange group release of new software for the SPV. The software update improves functionality and battery life and also gives customers two new applications – sound manager and picture manager. The update will be available for all SPV customers to download from the Orange.com website on Monday 24th February. http://www.orange.com/English/corporate/ne...sp?id=74&bhcp=1
Guest Firaas Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 You want official press release? Me give official press release :) http://www.orange.com/English/corporate/ne...sp?id=74&bhcp=1 "Today also sees the announcement of the first official Orange group release of new software for the SPV. Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 You guys really reckon Orange are going to pay some dude overtime just to throw the update on a server just to please a few modaco-users? Orange have problems enough getting their normal employees to do a good job of work here in Denmark, let alone doing extra stuff like this. We had to wait 'till the start of the normal working-day for ours.
Guest NickPike Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 This is normal work time for some of us!!! Its not that it would take one engineer to upload the server it will take 2000 people on 156 to answer our calls when the update doesnt work!!! Nick P
Guest Firaas Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Its not that it would take one engineer to upload the server it will take 2000 people on 156 to answer our calls when the update doesnt work!!! It isn't 156's problem if you install the update when they're closed - just as if it isn't Tesco's problem if you try and take something back for a refund when they're closed.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Thoroughbred/Firaas BRING IT ON! Sorry :), i'd forgotten about that particular press release hehe
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 This is normal work time for some of us!!! Aye. For me for example.....steady nights, love 'em :)
Guest pete1312 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 This is normal work time for some of us!!! Its not that it would take one engineer to upload the server it will take 2000 people on 156 to answer our calls when the update doesnt work!!! Nick P This happens to be part of my "normal" work time also! If it doesn't work right now, I'd expect to "take it back" during THEIR normal times later. I'd appreciate having the chance to at least try it on Mon 24 Feb as "promised". (When is a promise not a promise?)!! Have Orange been looking at a seperate Topic on this site which proves (beyond reasonable doubt) that 0.999' (recurring) = 1?? (Just for the record - I believe that it does). Night all. I'll wait for more after "normal" hours.
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 http://www.orange.co.uk/owner/howto/yourph...one/phones/spv/ "Frequently asked questions about the SPV, answered." But somehow, the MOST frquently asked question ("When's the effing update going to arrive?") isn't covered. LoL
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Bottom line, not even Orange would release the update without telling tech support anything. (Well... probably not!) So, if you want a RELIABLE source of information on when it's going to hit the servers, ask 156. Chances are good that they won't know. IF they don't know, you can take it as reasonably likely that's because Orange haven't seen any need to inform them yet - because it's not going to be released yet. Everyone is so FOCUSSED on a press release. Previous press releases, and "sources high within Orange" quoted here have promised earlier dates. I stilll think that the best indicator will be that 156 finally get told that there's going to BE an upgrade. Right now, the release date's no more than a self-perpetuating rumour, backed by a reference in a press release. Orange is a company that chages its mind more often than it changes its socks... and forgets to mention the plan change. Your WANTING the upgrade today isn't going to make it happen. Orange will remain Orange, and will continue to do what they always do. They even have a name for it: "OLAF". It's called "Orange Look And Feel." I don't THINK the expression was intended to include indecision... but it's as much a part of the company as the little coloured square.
Guest judin Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I was told by Handset Support that the update was out today. My phone became locked in "Headset mode" yesterday (Sunday), and after ringing Orange, was told the update would be today (Monday).
Guest NickPike Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Its about time us users told Orange where to stick their update!! On this website would be a good start!! So why do you have to be a MVP to get the update hey Paul!! Come on if you are truly working for us users and not Microsoft nor Orange, then if you have the update post it here!!! Nick P
