Guest u03ekw Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Why is it that sometimes i just get beeps when i try and play wav ringtones on spv? thanks.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Maybe it can't read them properly? Just a suggestion, it's never happened to me. Good luck, Wyatt
Guest superkingdave Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 99% sure that the ringtones you are trying to use are in the wrong wav format, if you look in your manual it says something about them having to be 8-bit version or something, try and find a program that converts stereo to mono.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I didn't even know that there were different types of wav, I just thought that it might not have been correctly converted etc. Wyatt
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Yep superkingdave it's down to compression ratio If you get a beep it is the wrong format.
Guest Jeeves Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Yep you need to convert it to PCM format at 8,000khz mono, but i think you can get away with having them as 16 bit instead of 8
Guest bobroberts Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 open sound manger in windows (it's on most versions i think) and then save it again as a 16bit pcm wav should do the job methinks
Guest HelloDave Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Sound recorder :) The phone accepts wavs in 8 or 16 bit format, from 8KHz to 22.5KHz sample rate and either as "uncompressed PCM" or compressed with the "GSM 6.10" codec. You were probably trying to use a compressed wav file, and that's why the phone beeped. To change a file's format in sound recorder, go to file...properties and click "convert".
