Guest Simon Desser Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 From what I've read so far, the update doesn't re-certify a de-certified phone. Has anyone actually tried installing a non certified program since the update, or are you just saying it has left the ones already installed in tact?
Guest casper508 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Everything that was ON it still works. Tried a non cert app and it still works. Donno if u can still de-cert the certified phones tho. Cas
Guest Simon Desser Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Thanks! That'll do me!! :)
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 My phone was de cert and after installing the update it is re cert, i tried to open task manager and registry editor and i got the "This program is not digitaly signed blah blah" messege. I tried to re install them and got the same messege. Talk about p****d off!! I seem to be the only person who this has happend to..... strange! Now i dont know if i can de cert again, Does anyone know if this is possible?
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 My phone re cert itself aswell, and the files we edited to uncert it have changed dramatically so that method isn't really possible. dammit.
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 So thats it then end of story, no more cool apps like task manager and registry editor and back to a small windows media player screen!
Guest Gorskar Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 loading a decert IPSM backup should remove cert again.
Guest mikey808 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Mine still runs all my uncertified apps after the update...dunno why it doesn't for some though... weird
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I can't even get into the boot loader!! Whatever I do it just goes to a 'Canery MV' Screen (yes it is MV and not PV).
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Yeah thats whats happening on mine too, i carnt get into the bootloader!!
Guest Tosh Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 My SPV still unlocked after the update. Has anyone tried simply pasting the two files mxipcold_oem_10.provxml and mxip_oem_10.provxml into the windows folder and rebooting. Cant see that it will hurt. These files arnt part of the update - the security policy appears to be in hex within a file called mxip_smartfon_100.rgu Anyone care to try it? osted it to someone but they havnt tried it.... Tony
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 How do i get a decent ipsm backup and load it in?
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Has anyone tried simply pasting the two files mxipcold_oem_10.provxml and mxip_oem_10.provxml into the windows folder and rebooting. Just tried it mate it doesnt work. :)
Guest xanadu Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I have done the update and it all works great. SPV is still de-certified :) Everything seems faster. Backlight on thing is fixed with keypad locked. Nice picture manager and sound program, very useful. Increased signal strength big time ;) Just have to wait and see about the battery life. Overall I am very pleased so far.
Guest tomdbomb61 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 so do people find that their fones are re certifed after the update? because if they are im sodding the updae in favour of all the de cert apps. thanks tom
Guest bobroberts Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I had a standard certified phone pre update. i updated then decerted. see the other threads and my recents post for more information

Guest tomdbomb61 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 AND WHY ARE SOME NOT AND SOME ARE?
Guest MECX Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 my phone is still de-cert --i had all the non cert progs on an SD card and non of them on the phone--also had sim lock on before update---also didnt have the SD card in for the update. cant think of anything else i did that would have mad my phone stay de-cert????
Guest Firaas Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Just looked at the provxml files. Here's the SecurityPolicy bit from mxip_oem_10.provxml: ...so it's still there. Can you guys who have been recertified try: in mxip_oem_10.provxml ? If you can't get into the bootloader, put your SD card in, this should slow stuff down a bit.
Guest samdb74 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Mine's OK after update - made backup just in case though
Guest jhew Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Mine was still de-certified after the update too. HURAHH! I feel like I've been extrememly lucky/ a rare case of all going well (delete as applicable) judging by some of the posts on the forum. Not had any problems at all.
