Guest Carnivor Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 did you make sure you overwrote the files for installation? the ones that was in the windows folder? I did and my upgrade went without a hitch.
Guest NXNM Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 might be woth tryin on another pc
Guest pete1312 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I have a similar error! It says: Caupgradeut has caused an error in GDI.EXE. Caupgradeut will now close. If this error persists try re-starting your computer. I've re-booted, but still the same error. Any clues please?
Guest gevans2000 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Seems as though it could be a winME problem. I have the same error: "Caupgradeut has caused an error in GDI.exe" Some similar posts on microsoft.public.smartphone and they seem to be using winME. AR*E!
Guest Gorskar Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 grr - same thing here Im running win98SE btw. CAUPGRADEUT caused an invalid page fault in module GDI.EXE at 0001:000097f0. Guest pete1312 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Can someone tell what GDI.EXE actually does? Would it be "safe" to disable it then run this update?
Guest Hax Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Win2K - no probs here :) Doesn't really help you too much I know - unless you can get to a Win2K machine Hax
Guest Gorskar Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Well I suppose I could steal my friend's win2k laptop, and install activesync on it and then try the update from there, but it would be a lot of hastle.

Guest pibrahim Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Grrrrrrrr... Was on the updating screen, phone seemed to lose connection with PC somehow, and it told me to take battery out, restart phone, try again. Now my phone won't get beyond the three colour Canary screen. Any idea how to fix this? If not, I'm going down the Orange shop first thing tomorrow and demanding a replacement, I can't believe their crappy software seems to have killed my phone.
Guest youngerpants Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Mono, Same problem! stuck on canary screen, the update software said to replace battery, which I did, and now the update wont re-run (101 connection error) Looks like its erased my OS and not replaced it! If anyone has an idea, please post (i rekon I'll have to erase the lot and start from scratch... hope my 8MB backup's OK)
Guest pibrahim Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Exact same problem as me. Except I don't have a backup on the memory card...
