According to what I've read on the MS Smartphone Public Newsgroup, there's supposed to be a separate Update for us ME users on Orange site tomorrow.

I'm not taking any bets tho :!:

Hey, stop slagging the testers! If you've done QA, you'll know that it's impossible to test every config fully. When you multiply up all the combinations, that's a hell of a lot of testing. It's not their fault that the supposedly Win 98 compatible Windows ME is an abortion of an OS. Maybe they did test it on ME, but their patch levels and installed software base was different to yours.

Did anyone have success with Windows ME?

No - Orange's test-crew are lamentable, that's just a fact. How else could you explain the SPV coming to the market as bug-ridden as it was? I've been beta-testing software for a large software company for a number of years now, and I can tell you that the whole of my team would have been shown the door had we OK'd the release of software that didn't work with, for example, Win ME. And don't come with all that "patch level" crap, it makes sod-all difference. Orange should have examined the WinME files relevant to this update's installation; if there was even the slightest potential for incompatibility - irrespective of "patch level" - then they should have re-written the relevant code if necessary; in this case it's Orange's job to modify the standard WinME files (DLL, EXE, whatever) and include them with the installer-app, if testing shows that this is necessary to avoid conflicts/crashes.

WinME *is* hopeless, agreed, but that doesn't give Orange an excuse to slack off when developing for it....their testers haven't completed their job, period.
