I was eargly awaiting the update form orange today and when it was released at 4:30pm this afternoon i decided to give it a go. I did exactly what the instructions asked. BTW i am not a noob when it comes to hardware (not being big headed or anything) just to let you know so you can speak tecchie :)

Tried hard reset, loading my backup from my SD card i made prior to the update etc.. No luck just hangs on the coloured bars screen or the boot loader. The OS just does not boot didnt even start to copy the files. I removed the battery canceled the update and retried as it states but it just does not connect at all. ;) Anyone here with any advice beacuse i really do think i have a fried phone here.. : its nothing to do with the IPSM etc just the boot loader just does not get past the damd stage.

Cheers

Same problem as me and others - see the other thread called 'Problems after update' or something similar, bottom of page 2 / top of 3.

Yup same problem as me and others - the thread's not really talking about the WinME problem any more. I'm stuck on the bootloader.

Ditto, the topic changes to that half way through the WinME thread...

This happened to me.

I shat myself initially.

this is how it went:

Update started but stopped halfway saying "cant communicate with phone" (or similar).

At that point, the phone was sat on the coloured screen (Canary 0.93).

Removed battery for 1 minute and replaced - phone went straight into bootloader / diag mode as if I had pressed record whilst powering on.

Anyway, removed SD card AND battery. Placed phone in cradle and it powered automatically. Re-ran the update and it worked! Note: I had to try a couple of times.

All I can say is - persevere with it. I THOUGHT I had fried my phone too - for a good half hour.

Don`t panic, try again. Keep trying - my guess is that it will work eventually.

Odds are that if you call the dimwits at O, they will tell you it is knackered - but what do they know ?

Try without a card, without a battery and do no look for an Activesync connection - this is unimportant - or was in my case.

afterthought: When I ran the update the final time, the phone was on the coloured screen - this then went blank - the ERASING SOFTWARE message appeared.

Good luck guys.
