Guest dproudfoot Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 I can not get the ActiveSync that came with the Orange CDROM to work with Windows XP Home Edition?!?!?! I have tried downloading another copy of ActiveSync from Microsoft but no joy. Everytime I install it just copies all the files and then disapears (doesn't show up in installed programs list) What the hell am I doing wrong?!?! Ta - Dave
Guest dproudfoot Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 And now I'm trying to install the update and when I try I get an error that there is a missing DLL. I'm guessing that this is because I don't have Active Sync installed?!?!? Help me please ...
Guest SirGaz Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I have XP Home ed and had no problems installing active sync. Is there an option to remove active sync in the Add/Remove Programs tool in control panel? If so, remove it. If not then manually remove all files from your system which had been installed when you tried to install active sync (probably c:program filesactive sync). Finally you may need to remove some entries from your registry. Search through it in regedit and delete any folder where active sync is mentioned. WARNING: Changes to the registry can seriously screw up your computer and should only be done if you are confident in what you are doing. ALso do a full backup before you start just in case. Once all that's done, try to re-install it again. Other than that I have no ideas other than contact microsoft and ask them.
