Guest DanDerham Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 Help! I'm having a problem installing the update on my phone. When I run the setup program it's coming up with Error 117: Invalid Model ID. I can connect to the phone with ActiveSync with no problems. I haven't tried to change the phone's software in anyway apart from the usual unlocking. Haven't run the DK update. I've tried rebooting both my PC and phone with no luck. Anybody else got this error? Cheers, Dan.
Guest grigsby1 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 For the people having made the error not making an image (full backup) of your SPV before putting the Danish version, here how to install the famous update 1.3.6.5 on version DK: - Run the Orange update file until there is the error of incompatibility. - Then it is necessary to go in the c:program filesruu on your PC and to transfer the CaClearJumpCode.exe file to the IPSM-Windows-Start Menu-Accessories on the SPV. Then go to your spv accessories and run the CaClearJumpCode.exe file it will the change to the gray menu (Canary). – Now put the spv back in you cradle and run the update on your PC, the update should function without concern now! Good courage and be careful the next time. It worked for me the reason I had to do this is because the changing the devicedate.txt work around did not work for me. This fix did not come from me. This is not my fix came from the French site http://www.smartphony.org. I just translated it
Guest lycrawearer Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Grigsby If you read DanDerham's post - you will see that he hasn't applied the DK update ... so your answer isn't really relevant ! lycrawearer
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 If you read DanDerham's post - you will see that he hasn't applied the DK update ... so your answer isn't really relevant ! I don't think that was grigsby's point - DanDerham's getting the incompatibility error already so maybe he can pick up the french tip from there onwards (i.e. from the "transferring CaClearJumpCode.exe" bit)
Guest grigsby1 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 That’s correct it should work no matter what version you have on the phone, I had a friend who had the same problem and have not had any updates and installed it, with this method with out any problems.
Guest Honest John Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Just followed Grigsby's solution. Result, phone knackered with a screen showing 3 bands saying Canary PV v0.91 and nowhere to go. Switch off and remove battery. Wait 2 minutes - same thing. It went wrong when I ran CaClearJumpCode.exe . No grey screen. Any one help?
Guest sykix Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Sorry to hear that, sounds like the phone is faulty. Claim it on warranty :) I had the model id invalid thing as well. I seemed to clear it by firstly disabling the device lock (i had an 8 digit password on it), then restarting the SPV (power off and on) and restarting my computer. Run the update from a clean restart of your computer. The update then went through without any problems. Hope this helps when you discover how to go back in time. Make sure you don't step on any ants, blah blah blah.
Guest mashkhan Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Dan Derham, I had the same sort of problem as well, What I did was delete all the partnerships I had on Activesync and delete the directory created by the update software. After that it worked fine. Incidentally I also made sure I connected using the main connection (not guest) it shouldn't make a difference but you might as well try it.
