UPDATE - APP UNLOCKED

ok, Ive now sim unlocked my phone, thanks to some ace dude

but want some advice about the update now, Im able to put the up date on now but I have application unlocked, can the update still be put on with unlocked application, and if so do you have to redo it once the updates on.

will I loose any settings or programs
