After update: Orange sunset screen and nothing else.

The update seemed to go OK - three times in fact - but after reset, the phone powers up and just sits at the sunset screen. Anyone else seen this or experiences a delay like this?

There should be a delay, try leaving it for several minutes (15 perhaps?).

it's been going an hour :-( i suppose i'll just leave it overnight.

An hour's too long, I think. Mine's occasionally taken 20-odd minutes, never longer...

Sigh. Well in the morning, it's the same. Add another hosed phone to the list.

Did you try pulling the battery and rebooting?

Failing that try runningthe update again...

Posted

Yes, thanks. Removed the battery, reapplied the update, used the boot menu to delete the IPSM, re-reapplied the update. Nothing makes a difference. Ah well.

Make sure the SIM-card's properly seated - mine stuck at the Orange sunrise screen this afternoon so I took my prehistoric SIM-card out (it's *6* years old, maybe more, I'm amazed it works with the SPV) and cleaned the contacts (both SIM & phone). Popped the bugger back in, et voilĂ , proper boot again. Old SIM cards are the root of many evils :)

Probably not the solution, but any port in a storm eh?

Good ideas - but I've tried my Sim (cleaned), no Sim, and the Sim from a differnet phone. Nothing works. I've a few people I know in various places that might be able to help, so I'll bug them next. Living in the US, it's a little tricky to visit my local Orange store.
