According to this microsoft faq, polyphonic ringtones are supported by the OS but SPV might not have it enabled. Now why did Orange/HTC do this?

from MS faq:

Q:  What ring tone formats are supported?

A:  Smartphone 2002 supports WAV and MIDI files. Depending on your phone model it may only support monotonic MIDI files. WAV files must be encoded using a PCM or GSM 6.10 codec.

Q:  I have a polyphonic MIDI file that I love. Will it work on my phone?

A:  Smartphone supports MIDI files so you can seamlessly install it right on your Smartphone.

Nevertheless, if you prefer to convert it to a WAV file, you can use one of the conversion tools available on the web. Search for "MIDI to WAV" at www.msn.com for several applications that can assist with this.

In that case, ORANGE GIVE US OUR POLYPHONIC RINGTONES AND OUR VOICE DIALLING FEATURE!!!!!!

Q: Does the SPV support voice dialing? The manual says it does.

A: Smartphone 2002 gives handset manufactures the flexibility to support voice recognition. The choice is up to manufacturers and mobile operators that bring devices to market. Orange and HTC decided not to enable voice recognition engine in the Orange SPV. Stay tuned.

As anyone who has read the manual knows, Voice dialling should have been a feature right from the outset, so I'm guessing Orange has a problem implementing it. Let's hope we'll see it in a future update.

It's not a software feature as I understand - but more of a hardware one. So MS have nothing to do with is, the OS just supports it as long as hardware can - but HTC has not implemented the thing... Damn those pigs!! (O being the main big fat pig hehe) :)
