Guest moorejam Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I tried following the old procedure but provxml files seem to contain different info???? Any ideas?
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 This has already been in several threads. But what it seems to say is, yes it does work but there is now only one *OEM*.provxml file and that's what you change. Also the timing may be a little fussier but that's pretty subjective. Look on the forum please. The info is out there.
Guest Shaks Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I did mine last night, even easier than before first time, didn't even use SIM security code to give me extra time, no problems with timing
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 yep, same as before but with just one file, and it took me 3 times to get it right when copying the file over, whereas it worked first time for me before the update so I reckon the timings have to be more precise.
Guest clv101 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Only this file then: mxipcold_oem_10.provxml? When exactly does it have to be done, as soon as possible? EDIT: should be this file: mxip_oem_10.provxml
Guest moorejam Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I can edit the file, Erase the IPSM, but I cannot copy paste the prov file before windows opens, it just takes too long to create a connection between pc and phone??????????? I have been trying this for hours HELP.. Please...
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 mxipcold_oem_10.provxml doesn't have the security information. Or mine doesn't anyway. Anyone else found this ?
Guest Hax Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Make sure you've got you phone connected to a power supply as well as the pc - I spent over an hour and a quarter last night continuously trying to de-cert my phone after the update, but it wouldn't have any of it. Finally, went and got my charger and plugged it into the base station and it then de-certed on second attempt! Dunno why this made a difference (or even if it did) but it's worth a try - didn't want to try again just to proove the point either :) HTH, Hax
Guest clv101 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 mxipcold_oem_10.provxml doesn't have the security information. Or mine doesn't anyway. Anyone else found this ? mxip_oem_10.provxml is the only file with the info... my mistake above. :?
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 No probs will check now. Anyone manged to de-certify their phone using a usb sync and charge cable. ? Keeps failing. Can't see any difference between this and the cradle.
Guest The unexpected guest ! Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I found this.................  Modified ROM FR 1.3.6.5 without digital signature http://www.smartphone.fr.fm/restor.htm http://62.4.16.139/jc/backup/majfullfree.zip
Guest Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Hi, The settings are different in the file there are 4 entries instead of the original 3 What do I do with the setting on the new line? THIS ONE????? Also I can't see the favorites in this file so how do I change it so that I can tell if it has worked PLEASE don't just say that this is covered on other posts, my PC at work is so slow it takes 5 minutes to see each post. I have tried looking for a simple post that tells me what to do with the upgraded phone but I cannot see one? Thanks
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Delete the new one, and change the other 3
Guest Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I cannot get to the delete IPSM bit, It goes straight to the canary screen if I press any button as it suggests. If I don't press any button then it still goes straight to the canary screen? Am I doing something wrong?? I am following the instructions to the letter. Cheers

Cheers It took me ages to get it but it is basically the same as before - I did it with a card in it. Press Voice and power When you get the card screen let go. As soon as it tells you to press any key press and hold the action key until menu comes up
Guest JimBob Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 This way works first time, every time for me: 1. Turn your phone off. 2. Hold RECORD + ACTION + POWER (I didnt used to have to press action at this point.....i do now.) 3. When the Bootloader menu comes up asking you to press any key, release RECORD + POWER........keep ACTION held down though! 4. Release ACTION then quickly press it again.
Guest madu Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Birchall: I hope you are holding that Action Key down for 1 sec when it powers up and not just clicking it..
