Normally i hate these kind of repeat threads, but nevermind :) It also allows me to thank all those that tried to help me over the past 16 hours or so.

However, i took my cradle and charger into work with me today and ran the update from here. Its reflashed whatever it is it flashes and has booted ;)

It seems last night it skipped to the final page before flashing on the new ROM, but after removing the old... :/ This meaning the updater could then not talk to the phone.

Anyway, its on "Updating... Do not close." atm, has been for ages :/ but its looking better than it was last night...

Thanks again to the that helped.

Ace.

I wish i could update mine. Just stuck on the canary screen. I followed the numerous instructions posted in other threads but to no avail. Update is displaying the "checking the information on your SPV please wait" and it's been like that for 10 minutes.

Reckon it's worth a trip to the orange shop to get it installed ?

I had this problem the first time i run the update all i did was to take the phone out of the cradle without turning it off then rebooting the PC and then rerunning the update and it worked just fine

It seems something the windows-side installed wrote to my PC confused the installer. It seems there was noting wrong with the phone. matth: i suggest trying to remove all files to do with the update, look to see if theres an uninstaller too and start again. Failing that try and borrow a mates NT based machine and run it form there.

Think it was doing something at the start of the update but failed halfway thru.

How do i go about removing all files to do with an update. Active Synch does not connect. Never been into the screen you get when you hit the action button ?

any advice greatly appreciated.

cheers

matt.

No, at a guess i'd say you need to remove all the files the update installs on your PC, not the phone. Start with the folder C:Program FilesRUU, and see if that forces the updater to run as it did the first time, and not skip straight to "looking for device".

If you are really stuck try using a mates PC
