Update Review

I just thought Id post my review of the update.

I only got round to installing the update this morning after a few problems before hand, but once it was rolling it went smoothly.

I left my house this morning at 9am with an 85% full battery. Through out the day Ive played around 3 hours of Gaming, made a number of calls, made a few texts, played around with the settings during bordom, and restarted the phone twice.

Now, having got in at 6pm, I now still have 50% battery. With that amount of use and gaming I would be lucky if it last half the day!!!

So as for battery power, WOW, I will give credit to microsoft for that part of the update.

Also, through out the day I have been running 4 bars of signal, with it very rarely dropping below 3. Yet when I brought the got the phone over a week ago brand new, I was lucky to get 2 bars, and 1 bar was a struggle, So again, RESPECT to microsoft or orange.

Ive noticed, as posted before, that it does up the memory by 0.5 so you have to take that as a bonus.

As for the application, yes they were poor, but come on, who was expecting some good applications, it was only a bios update and orange are tighter than virgin mary!!!!

The download process, well i dont think they have do to bad either, the file downloaded first time, and as long as the instructions were followed it updated pretty smoothly, I think most of the problem come from the actual owners computer system. (including mine when it crashed half way through the update!!!!)

So Im pretty chuffed, cause now with a decent battery life and signal, the SPV remains near the forefront of mobile phone technology (well, thats available anyway!!!)

And things are made so much better by the superb french man (he was french wernt he) who posted his excellent progam to sim unlock the SPV, for so long Florin_m has kept it a secret and didnt have the mature approach to share with the modaco community and instead charged a stupidly mega price of £50. A big thanks to the brains behind the sim unlocking program posted, run sweet.

What more problems can exsist now, if you have had problems that look on the bright side, we now all have sim unlocked SPVs, Application Unlocked SPVs, a system update that help some very important issues such as signal and battery life (pretty much the most important things to a mobile phone!!!!), a great set of developers out there that are forever coming up with programs that we love, and of cause all at modaco, including the member, who never stopping helping each other out.

Im getting emotinal!!!!

You should notice that the Microsoft version number hasn't changed in this release of code, therefore all of the update is down to HTC.
