1. I use either Smart Explorer or All Locations, all explorer, or Task Manager. Not too sure if you can without one of these apps, the Settings -> About only displays space on the internal ram.

2. You need to have the persons name setup with +44 rather than 0, for example 07771 177177 would be +447771 177177.

3. The clock on the home page has been set to 12 hour clock, its adjustable in the xml file for your home page.

A trial version of All Explorer comes on the 8mb card supplied with the phone.

The XML file is located in :-

IPSMApplication DataHome

I can't tell you which file it is, as it depends on which homepage you are using.

They are normally relevant to the name of the homepage, for example the XP Home page is called "xp.home.xml"

What homepage are you using ?

If you are using the onboard / Orange standard ones, they are located in the Windows folder.

For example the simple orange one is called simple.home.xml

But be warned if you edit them in that folder, you WILL lose the changes if you restart / turn off your phone.

My advice is copy it to your PC, edit it, then call it something else, NOTE you need to alter the page name in the xml file too.

Then copy the new file to the IPSMApplication DataHome folder.

And pic the newly named homepage from the settings _> Homepage screen.

Then the file is safe after a restart.

I hope this helps.

They are indeed.

You can alter the size of the time, the mode (12h/24h), the location where it is displayed on the screen, and the colour of the display.

Anything that sits on your home screen is editable, you can change the layouts, the pictures, and the colour schemes.

You can also edit, within the .home.xml file the ringtones.

It is very editable.

There are a lot of layouts to download.

Have a look at www.smartphonethemes.com and they have a load of different setups in there. or www.smartphony.org under the skins section. (NOTE - this is a French site)

Sorry mate you cannot edit it directly from the phone.

There are several file types within the smartphone os.

.scheme.xml = colour scheme file.

.home.xml = home screen layout.

.cpl.xml = A control panel / behind the scenes file.

.def.prof.xml = control file, but i don't actually know what it does.

The phone itself has a 24 hours clock, but the screens are all configurable, so the .home.xml files interpret the little programs called "Plugins" and display them in different ways, size, colour, locations etc.

if you could change the layout on the handset it would be good, but too complicated at there are a vast amount of possiblilties.

Thus it is easier to either download cool themes, or manually edit the .home.xml file yourself.

Now the .home.xml can specify colours, as well as layouts, but you can also setup a scheme file. So for example you have a cool layout, but the colours look horrible, you can have two files, and use them indepenantly of each other, so if you like black text on white, you could use it for all different themes.

I am probably loosing you a little here, and i am sorry if i am.

There is a section in the forum called "Customisation" where people give help and advice in customising these files.

Im off to bed now mate, but if you wanna carry on the conversation please feel free and i will have a look tomorrow.

I am still pretty new to it myself, but when you get the hang of the customising, it really can enhance your SPV pleasure.

Have fun.
