Guest Pagemakers Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Just installed Doom and it's awful. Very slow and clumsy. I don’t know why you guys rave about it. How do I uninstall it - do I just remove the doom folder and shortcut file?
Guest benny Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Because it is running on the only mobile phone capable of supoprting it? Its a techie thing...no real need for it, other than to say "Because I can". B

Guest Pidder Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Just installed Doom and it's awful. Very slow and clumsy. My version of doom works at a real good speed!
Guest Pagemakers Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 How do I remove it guys. I've had enough.
Guest madu Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Just delete it!! And yes, I agree it is not a game I play. Though it is on my SD card in case there is a 'Who's got a better phone competition' at work and top prize is £1000
Guest akarno Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I recently played Doom on a Gameboy Advanced. I think the SPV version is almost as good. If it had Gamma correction and save, it would be as good.
Guest Pagemakers Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Maybe I am too impatient - oh well, all gone now.
Guest Pondrew Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Pagemakers, I found it was unusable myself, took forever to load and then almost impossible to play. But I searched around and found the latest version (was in a zip file under name DoomSPVexp). On reinstalling that over the old version it greatly improved it and it IS playable now, and loads much quicker. See if you can find that version...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 The version of doom with all the Debug stuff disabled runs as well as my GBA. It's a shame there's no save support... It does look dark on a SPV - I wish the author could see it on a Tanager, it looks beautiful! P
Guest Pagemakers Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Cheers Pondrew, but I don't think I'll bother.
Guest shadieb Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I decerted my phone for the first time last night, after doing the update and the sim unlock. I then installed Doom, even though I was a bit dubious due to the previously mentioned slow load times and slow playability. Anyhow, it boots up in about 15 seconds flat which is amazing and plays great too. Would be nice if it could save, but the looks on mates faces this morning made it all worthwhile. I think just showing it to some mates will have upped Oranges customer base by about another 5 new contracts in the next day or so. It is what is called sheer WOW! factor. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 FYI you can get doom for 7650. And it is very playable. Haven't put it on my SPV because I had problems with the cert and trying to disable it so gave up. (For the time being).
Guest benny Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I stand corrected! Still haven't got around to doing the de-cert, but I think I may have to... B
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 As soon as i can contact MBoden the latest versnio will be on my site. :)
Guest HelloDave Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 It does look dark on a SPV - I wish the author could see it on a Tanager, it looks beautiful! Here we go. Rub it in... :) I think Doom plays very well considering it's a Win CE port (or was it Pocket PC, can't remember) Who cares if it isn't like playing it on your PC, it's something that makes people gasp ;) With a bit more work it could be excellent - don't forget the 7650 version has had a lot more development than the SPV one.
Guest samdb74 Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 At the end of the day it's a phone not a full blown PC - it's brilliant just to show off with - as others have already said. what phone can do what ours can, pound for pound?
Guest amo Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Whats the quickest tme anyones completed the first stage on their spv? Mine was 30 secs i think. Lets start a competition!
