Guest Flopsy Posted December 1, 2002 Report Posted December 1, 2002 More fun... Anyone any idea how to set up a standard Internet CSD connection? Such as BTInternet? I've added a new dial up connection, and added in a telephone number and a username and password, but where do you put in the DNS numbers? Obviously I had no success - I switched the Internet connection to this new connection and on connecting in IE, it started dialling, showing the two arrows icon over the signal bar (which I presume means data), but nothing happened and it stopped after a minute. As an aside, I can't get CSD WAP to work either. In fact, not actually got a lot to work yet other than normal GPRS. And that I had to configure myself, thanks Orange. Oh, and anyone else notice the "High Speed Data" entry on the list of features of the SPV on Orange's website has disappeared. Hmmm - bit late for me now isn't it Orange? I would of course be eternally grateful if anyone has a screen dump of that page so when I finally get too cross with this phone and ask for my money back, I have some evidence they promised me a function it didn't have. Ralph.
Guest tiita Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 make sure your sim IS data provisioned (156) make sure you enter the complete telephone number includinng country and area code in a international format 44 1202 123456
Guest Flopsy Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 I assume I am data enabled - I can use GPRS connections and I can use CSD WAP. I will check though. I did the 44 thing in the phone number. Ta. Ralph.
Guest tiita Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 do check sometimes people provisioned for gprs are not provisioned for data if you are, try deleting the account and being reprovisioned
Guest Fulkrum Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 With Orange if you have GPRS, you do have data provisioned. They use the same line.
Guest tiita Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 unfortunately even though sometimes GPRS and CSD cannot use the same line as they are 2 different systems. anyway, gprs and data even though they may be provisioned may not be provisioned properly. checking doesn't hurt. if you want to try in-da-house use hyper terminal or z term trying to dial out a data number (for csd). no carrier 4 times out of 5 means no data enable.
Guest Fulkrum Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 use a terminal window to test at enter ok response This tells you you are getting a loopback from the modem to dial use atdt08456091300 enter if you get no carrier you are not enabled.
