Guest PaulW Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Ok I have searched the forum for information on how to clean the screen if it gets dust on the inside, but it doesn't help me. The actaul screen itself is dirty (dropped the phone & the front panel broke off), and the TFT display itself has black smudge-like marks on. I've had a good look at the display itself, and noticed that it has very fine lines running across it, i've tried various cleaning agents but to no avail! How far do these 'lines' cut into the display? I am guessing its the way the screen is lit, as it only affects the picture when the display is lit, and not when it isn't. Please help!!
Guest Deemon Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 well if its just the perspex screen thats scratched then try Displex...its a mobile phone screen cleaner i bought some from CPW when i scratched my spv screen...took about an hour of gently rubbing the screen with a duster and a bit of the solution but it got the scratches out eventually and you couldnt tell the difference....
Guest muude Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I thought I was bad at handling phones... Was it the one you tried to paint but got fu*ked up, or was it your new one?
Guest PaulW Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 muude > lol yeah the one which was attempted to be painted, i've ditched painting the other, was missing out on zelda! Deemon > The perspex screen, do you meen the one on the outer casing with the orange logo on? as the one i meen is the main display screen on the phone itself, you can see it, but its like having a few dark clouds, just makes certain areas of the screen darker.
Guest muude Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 I guess the only option is to take it apart as when removing the dust etc. I'm sure you've tried it when you had to paint it gold!!
Guest PaulW Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 tried taking it apart, had a real close look at the screen and it is covered in very fine fins which i guess is what helps light the screen up. Some small scratches are present, as is some sloght dirt which i tried to clean off but it wouldnt as i guess it seeped in. Could try ringing HTC and see if they could send me a new screen i suppose or suggest a way of cleaning it!
Guest spikex Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I got a load of weird colours appearing on the screen (like a rainbow effect)...so I got my SPV replaced the very next day (but that wasn't the reason why I replaced it). I replaced it because I had installed the DK update on my phone...so rang Orange up and they sorted it. Funny thing is though they only asked for the phone, battery and charger back so now I've got two digital cameras, cases, cradle, etc, etc.
Guest spikex Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Another funny thing was that the UK update wasn't installed on it. Had to do it myself...but it did work without a glitch this time. I thought SPV's coming out now will all have the UK update installed?
Guest Yousaf Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 can anyone one point me to any threads about getting rid of the dust in the screen as all my searches bring out totally irrelevent results :S thnx in advance :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 You can't, is the general consensus (sp). I've tried blowing with compressed air and sucking with a dyson in every oriface i could find (make what you want of that phrase ;p) in the phone with no luck :/
Guest PaulW Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 well im definately going to call HTC themselves tomorrow, not orange - if anyone is interested (especially those who got phones of ebay and other 'cources') ill put the number up in the morning, its at work atm, theyh dont actually send out parts, ony repair the phones at there location so it is a bit of an arse as your without the phone for a while! Still, least its a proper job!
