THANX IN ADVANCE... BTW i'm from the Philippines
Guest martin Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 You didn't give any info so I managed to find some Globe settings off the Internet. As I didn't look too hard, you may have to check the Globe data for accuracy (especially access points). Create proxy connection Description: Globe WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP network Proxy (name:port): 203.177.42.214 Type: WAP Username: blank Password: blank Note: If there are any other Proxy settings which also contain 'Connects to WAP Network' either delete it or make it temporarily connect to something else i.e Corporate. I'm not sure yet whether two of these same settings can clash ? Just in case. I don't think there can be a possible clash with the either GPRS or Dial up connection settings as the Data connection can point to only one of these. (its just proxy that I want to check as these is no manual selection - if you connect two proxys to WAP Network, how does the WAP connection know which one is required ?) Create GPRS connection. (Internet connection to non WAP sites) Description: Globe GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access point: internet.globe.com.ph User name: (blank) Password: (blank) Primary DNS: 203.127.225.10 Secondary DNS: 203.127.225.11 IP address: (blank) Create GPRS connection. (Internet connection to WAP sites) Description: Globe WAP Connects to: The Internet Access point: www.globe.com.ph User name: (blank) Password: (blank) Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address: (blank) Create Dial Up Connection Connects to: The Internet Country code: 6 Dialling code: 39 Phone number: 172399 Username: globe Password: globe Domain: (blank) (+639172399 : not sure which part is country/dialing codes - ammend if not right) In data connections Internet Connection: Globe GPRS WAP connection: Globe WAP (for WAP over GPRS) or WAP connection: Globe CSD WAP (for WAP over GSM) In IE connections tick 'Automatically detect settings' Try to connect to both WAP and non WAP sites (& Good Luck)
Guest jologs Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 thanx so much i realy apreciate this an i mean really... i'll try this wen i get home. if you don't mind me asking where are you from??? are you filipino? how did you know all this? THANX SO MUCH
Guest martin Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I hope this all works for you. I'm not filipino (although we have a quite a few filipino Newbie's on this site now). I live in Manchester, England. It's is good to see people from around the world accessing this site. And good for the SPV/Tanager too. I managed to setup the SPV up on another network here in England and just replaced some of the data for Globe Network. The Globe data was put together from a quick search on the Internet so it may have to be verified if you have any problems. If you manage to get it all working, can you say what additional changes you made and we'll put these settings in the GPRS/WAP/MMS repository. Ta
Guest jologs Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 WOW... i can't believed it worked THANX MARTIN one more problem though i cant access HTTP sites i managed to access some wap sites but having problems going to this site in particular http://www.yahoo.com/ and all other HTTP sites more help please...
Guest martin Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I assume that you have the big centre G in the middle of the phone and that you are successfully using WAP over GPRS which, when active, will show a small G in top right. If so.... GPRS internet should be the easiest to setup (much easier than GPRS WAP) Therefore, if you can't access (NON wap) http sites then its usually one of two things. 1. APN (access point name) is incorrect in Globe GPRS settings. Although I am sure that internet.globe.com.ph is correct and username and password should be blank. 2. Network provider has not activated this service for you. Make sure 'auto detect' is ticked in IE connections? and check that data connection has Internet connection: Globe GPRS Have you previously used this SIM for GPRS access to non wap sites ? GPRS is just a means of transferring data packets across the mobile network. When GPRS is activated on your account by the network operator, they usually at least give WAP over GPRS (APN: www.globe.com.ph) by default. You may have to confirm that you are subscribed to the other two GPRS services which are Internet & MMS. These two GPRS services are sometimes not available on some networks and are often not given on certain accounts with others. You may have to ask for these seperately from WAP ? I would speak to your network operator. Let us know how you get on.
Guest jologs Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 for some reason now my settings are all working now in surfing http this is what i did In data connections Internet Connection: Automatic WAP connection: Globe WAP (for WAP over GPRS) or WAP connection: Globe CSD WAP (for WAP over GSM) and it all worked thanx to you now i can surf the net when i'm outside THANX AGAIN
Guest lmarantal Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 HELP  , i cant seem to get mine to work, tried everything, the PIE only works when my phone is connected to PC, Is this possible using a Globe prepaid sim?
Guest martin Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Do you have a G in the top centre of the phone ? This will tell you if GPRS has been activated on the SIM. If it has been activated then you should be able to use GPRS WAP but you may not be able to get GPRS web for HTML pages as I believe this is for post paid only. I would ask globe network if the GPRS WAP APN for prepaid is the same as post paid. The APN may be different ? Have you also tried using the CSD connections ?
Guest lmarantal Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 yes, i have a G in the top, i could use my sim on surfing WAP using my 6510, CSD connection doesnt work also
Guest martin Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 Are you able to get the settings from the 6510 or another phone ? This IP address may be different for pre-paid. If not, you could try both of these IP's in the proxy setings to see if it works. 192.40.100.7 192.9.163.34 Make sure you are trying and connect to a WAP site like http://www.google.com/wml You could also call globe customer services and ask them to confirm the pre-paid settings for GPRS APN, GSM dial-up, IP address, username and password.
