Guest CamperBoy Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Just wanted to say thanks for all your helpfull posts people, I have (until now) been a silent viewer of this forum, Having got my SPV over a couple of months ago, with your help I've sucessfully, a/ Learnt all the features of the standard SPV that aren't in the manual. b/ Used the free "now MMS" service (GPRS costs only) c / Customised my home screen hundreds of times d/ Managed to get the UK update (I saw all you guys on here at midnight goin mental!!) e/ After the update, released it from O's App lock f/ Now use free SMS with Retro SPV g/ install, Doom, SmartNES and load more games to make folk jealous h/ and generally, have something to do when I get bored at work. Overall, my SPV is very cool compared to what I first though of it! thanks
Guest Vector Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Same here if i never found this site my SPV would probably be used 1/2 as much as it is now. And it is brilliant for going on holidays. Before i used to take a personal cd player, a gameboy and speakers. But now i just have to take my SPV which also can play movies in media player ( find the div x player better though  ) I LOVE THIS PHONE !!!! :)
Guest Neil Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I just wanted to add my thanks too, if I hadn't found this place, I'd never be able to update my phone (Orange told me today they are not going to release an Me update and suggested I go upgrade my OS!) Cheers to everyone who made it possible :)
Guest vampyre69 Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Me too with out the perfect interaction and experiences given by others I would not have sorted out my problems or discovered new ways etc. A community like this is special as it enables individuals to share/gain knowledge that would not otherwise be publicly available. Even everyday users can gain from this site too, rather than it being a 'techie luvver' site. I would like to thank everyone for the help and information they have posted. Lastly I think we owe a massive thanks to Paul for his outstanding idea and contribution to the SPV owner community. - Yes I know I just re-read it and it sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech, but I'm hitting the post button anyway.
Guest roentgen2000 Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Second all the sentiment. Just managed to update my phone tonite thanks to the SPVUpdate file (had no luck doing it myself with the French update on my Win98SE). Thanks guys! Respect 8)
Guest Rolfe_WJ_2 Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Me too :) I love the internet because is spawns communities like this one, thnx to everyone who has taken the few minutes it takes to post here. I know I appreciate everyone who chips in, and so I try and chip in where I can ( on every forum for which I am a member ). Keep up the good work people, and thnx again, to all of you ;)
Guest pipin Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 :) hep i have to agree if it was,nt for this forum then most of the members would still be on their phones trying to get some help from Orange  I did say trying. 10 mins on this forum can always point you in the right direction in sorting out a problem. I,ve spent hours on the blower to OCS and OTech Help line without them fixing 1 of my problem, I come on here read a few post and wallah problem fixed. Now I don,t bother phoning O i just come here. Keep up the good work People
Guest rangero_gerant Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 heah it,s a brill forum be lost without it good work boys/grils
Guest pete1312 Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 I'd just like to echo all the comments above. Without this site, my SPV would have been returned to Orange 2 months ago. Why can't Orange appreciate that?
Guest fixit Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Ermm, yeah. I previously spent my life successfully being a closet nerd - none of my friends know this side of me. It was all going well, I could work in IT and mess around with computers at home, even watch the odd episode of Star Trek when nobody was looking. But now, this damn phone hits the streets, and I have to take it out of the house and down to the pub and people ask me questions about it and I hit nerd mode in public - because of the sheer wealth of new software and information ON THIS SITE. I'm looking at it from work and everything. Thanks Modaco. You've forced me to come 'out of the closet' - bunch of swines the lot of ya. And now it's 2am and I'm once again looking at this horribly compulsive site. Which I suppose is a very odd way of thanking you all. But please take it in the intended spirit. Cheers all.
Guest HelloDave Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Yup, the forum's great - really Orange should pay Paul; we must have saved them a lot in 15X support costs! Then again, he get's lots of free stuff courtesy of M$, lucky git :) How about giving long term members freebies instead? Free Tanager after 500 posts Orange? Ahh, I can dream... I could say something like "Orange could host this site for Paul", but imagine phoning tech support when it was down - "MoDaCo forum? no, sorry don't know anything about that - i'll ring you back."
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 And after 1500 posdts? :)
Guest SirGaz Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Monolithix, cool new avatar. Took me a couple of minutes to work out it was you after the change from Chef (and the loss of bork!).
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Cheers, i've had a few comments about it now. Might have to change back sometime if i get more "complaints".... :)

Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Heheh yus it does. Between Wednesday and Thursday evening I've watch the whole of series one and half of series two :)
