Guest ndavey1 Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Hi all, I'm really confused. I thought that SD cards were meant to be better and faster than MMC Cards. I recently started using a 256mb SD card and things were slower on my spv ,e.g. tennis addict was slow, and the sound cut out on the cheering after a shot. It really bugged me. I put my old 128MB MMC card back in to test it, and it works perfectly asit did before the sd card was in. It seems MMC is better than SD. What is the reason for this? Nathan. p.s. anyone wanna trade an 256mb SD for 256 MMC?
Guest HelloDave Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Theoretically SD cards are faster than MMCs, but you won't notice a difference on the SPV because the phone isn't really fast enough to cope with even full MMC speeds. Probably what happened in your case was that there's more overhead accessing a larger memory card becuase the phone has more data to search through before it finds what it wants, so smaller cards can be faster. Even if you had the same amount of data on each card the file allocation table on the larger card might take longer to search, but i'm not sure.
Guest ndavey1 Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Thanks for the reply, Thats a bit of a bummer isn't it. There must be a way of getting smooth operation on higher memory cards. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks, Nathan.
