Guest Palindrome Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 1. Get hold of VirtualDub (freeware): http://www.virtualdub.org/ 2. And DivX codec (you'll have to pay for this and I think only version 5.02 works with PocketMVP): http://www.divx.com/ 3. And finally get 'My Dub Settings V2' from this thread: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=6358 4. When you've got DivX installed and virtualdub running, open your video file in virtualdub. 5. Then load 'My Dub Settings V2' in virtualdub (there's two settings in the zip file you downloaded, normal & letterbox): File -> Load Processing Settings 6. Then save the AVI and it should compress audio and video very nicely in DivX and MPEG formats. You may bump into problems with codecs depending on your original video file, but post any problems and I'm sure you will be helped out. Hope this helps.
Guest smartman Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 thanx palindrome for the assistance worked like a charm
Guest rchiileea Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 ClintEastman is god on this trust me i know his settings worked a charm se below
Guest caio1 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Try my settings 99% based on clint's letterbox just trying a way to reduce size without losing too much quality. USE IT WITH DIVX 5.0.2 ONLY!! Let me know your impression. Caioletterbox_caio1.zip
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 i have a few "personal" setting configs at the mo. one of them is lower file size but with the same 120KB/s! another runs at 200KB/s!! (not much different on quality though)
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 oh! and there's a new matrix trailer in off topic! much longer!
Guest Palindrome Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I certainly look forward to version 3. That's if there will be a version 3?
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I certainly look forward to version 3. That's if there will be a version 3? Â :) ;) Working on them!!! Doing a lot of research on it at the moment! 8)
Guest mark_hunter Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 i ve bumped into problems with codecs with my original video file, as when i try and open a video file in VirtualDub i get a message saying "couldnt locate decompressor format for MP43" :?: HELP!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Has it been encoded to Divx 5.02?
Guest mark_hunter Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 i dont know but i dont think it has been encoded to Divx 5.0.2. And how would i go about encoding it to DivX format :?:
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Follow the instructions in this thread!
Guest drblow Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Em... excuse my ignorance here - I've been reading these virtualdub posts for the last 3 hours! I have successfully DL'ed virtualdub, opened an mpeg, applied Clinteastmans virtualdub settings V2, and then saved as an avi file - but the 42MB mpeg has become a 320MB avi!! I thought the idea was to compress the file! Am I just being an idiot?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Do you have DivX installed? Did you check it had selected it before you encoded?
Guest drblow Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 I have DivX Mpeg 4 Fast motion / low motion codecs installed. At the Divx.com homepage, I saw the download for version 5.0.4., but everyone here is talking about 5.0.2. I'm not too sure whether this is the codec I have or not. I didn't check the settings before saving the file, as I thought that was the point of applying the settings from Clint. Am I just a monkey??
Guest ^JP^ Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Where can i download the 5.02 version? I have 5.03 and 5.0.4 but when i try and play on my phone it just locks up with a black screen! Any of the trailer i have downloaded from the other thread work fine but im guessing thats because of the 5.0.2 codec! Im using vdub and the V2 settings! A link for the 5.0.2 installer would be very good!
Guest mattbrown Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 ive followed your info for compressing a file but they compress down to around 7mb's - whats the best thing to change to get it smaller but leave acceptable to watch??
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 I honestly don't think you are gonna get it much smaller than 7mb (of course that depends on what you are compressing!) But the cartoon episodes I have are around 10-15 mb.
Guest smartman Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 anybody know any settings for movieclips downloaded from pocketmatrix site, i say this because these clips are already rotated so the processing settings are out i.e. how do i resize etc.. for pocketMVP so they are in correct orientation anybody got any tips :?
Guest mattbrown Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 i have 5.0.2 bundle just give me a shout and can email it to you - its 3megs tho
Guest mattbrown Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 ok i have got the compression etc sorted but one thing that i was battling with until i just ignored it was that when you preview a file in virtual dub it says it will be bout 100+ megs but when you actually compress its bout 3+ megs whats going on???
